Pittsburg State University is accepting applications for a Senior Instructional Designer. The position\'s primary function is to design, develop, and deliver instructional materials and training programs for faculty. The Senior Instructional Designer is responsible for developing pedagogical strategies and providing support and instructional design services to faculty in the development, support, implementation, and evaluation of online, hybrid, and face-to-face courses. The position will also help lead the administration of instructional technology tools available to all faculty.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Training35%

  • Design and deliver training for faculty to effectively use the learning management system and other instructional technology tools.
  • Design and deliver training regarding best practices for designing online and hybrid courses.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop course content for online and hybrid courses.
  • Provide training for course development that reflects best practices in digital accessibility.
  • Assist the CTLT Director with the development and implementation of training programs for faculty.
  • Develop and implement a communication plan to announce trainings and workshops for faculty.

Technology Support-- 25%

  • Provide support to faculty concerning instructional technology tools
  • Troubleshoot problems for faculty using instructional technology provided by the university
  • Communicate updates to instructional technology tools

Administration of Technology Tools15%

  • Assist the Director in the administration of Canvas, Zoom, and other technology tools overseen by the CTLT.
  • Provide administrative support for the learning management system and other technology tools provided to faculty by the CTLT
  • Research, analyze, and evaluate new and existing educational technologies

Resource Development 10%

  • Develop web-based resources such as tutorials, reference materials, and templates
  • Lead the development of Canvas course templates

Open Educational Resources10%

  • Lead and support programming and training for the use/creation of Open Educational Resources
  • Support technology tools available for the creation of OER
