he Technician is responsible for carrying out laboratory analyses/experiments and process research operations utilizing Pilot Plant processing equipment. The primary accountabilities of the role include control of batches, experiments, materials, housekeeping, maintenance, preparation of Standard Operating Procedures, Standard Practice Instructions, daily Pilot Plant schedule adherence, customer service, Quality, and EHS.

Responsibilities:

  • Confirm availability of raw and packing materials for current and next runs. Seek and understand schedule and demand plans. Coordinate by working with other team members in planning, warehouse, R&D and Engineering to ensure availability of materials. Withdraw specification of raw and pack materials from warehouse / storage Locations.

  • Weigh raw materials for batches following batch cards, computerized system and cGMP Standards.

  • Order and maintain inventory of Pilot Plant supplies as requested.

  • Physically move drums onto pallets for movement to the waste management area.

  • Accurately label and maintain the storage of waste drums in the Plot Plant.

  • Use appropriate internal business systems to plan pilot work.

  • Process batches following manufacturing procedures given by chemist/engineer and/or computerized system.

  • Accountable for the quality of batches completed.

  • Execute laboratory/pilot experiments, in partnership with R&D and Supply Chain, to prove engineering concepts, and ensure effective scale up. Record results and assess when experiments are complete.

  • Fill, package and label product manufactured for stability and consumer testing.

  • Operate, supervise, perform changeovers and conduct minor maintenance of automated equipment (making, filling) through computer terminals, control panels and/or by manual means. Troubleshoots as needed.

  • Accurately and fully finish the regulatory and compliance related documentation and procedures; highlights variances.

  • When assigned, and with Product Supply Engineering assistance, perform validation of equipment including writing Standard Operating Procedures, Standard Practice Instructions, job aids and equipment manuals.

  • Accountable for housekeeping of pilot plant and lab area, including storage locations.

  • Accountable for adhering to Colgate-Palmolive, state, local, and federal guidelines related to EHS, Quality, and Regulatory.

  • Assists in the implementation of continuous improvement programs within the area.

  • Understand the needs of customers, which include R&D, Engineering, Marketing, Quality, and Planning.

  • Other assigned responsibilities as needed by the business.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or higher

  • Minimum of three years of relevant industry experience

  • Ability to interface with computers and attain proficiency with various Pilot Plant software and data systems e.g. Chemical Information Management (CIM) SAP, PDM, Google Suite of Software, Microsoft Office, etc.

  • Technical knowledge and ability to operate, run, clean, sanitize and maintain pilot plant or industrial process equipment.

  • Working knowledge of laboratory methods, procedures and processes.

  • Working understanding of cCGMP requirements and expectations for FDA covered operation, including records, documentation, housekeeping, and process control.

  • Ability to move bags of raw materials weighing up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in a technical field

  • Maintenance & Planning background and experience a plus

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range $82,000.00 - $90,000.00 USD

Pay is based on multiple non-discriminatory, individualized factors including but not limited to experience, job-related knowledge and education, skills and office/market location. In addition to base salary, salaried employees are eligible for annual discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing and, for Executive-level (salary grade 16 and above) roles only, long-term incentives in the form of Restricted Stock Units and/or Stock Options.

Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable benefits plans then in effect, all salaried employees are also eligible for a competitive benefits package which includes:

  • Retirement Plans: Employees are eligible to enroll in Colgate's 401(k) plan, which provides for company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements

  • Vacation/PTO: Employees receive a minimum of 15 days of vacation/PTO leave annually

  • Paid Holidays: Employees receive a minimum of 13 paid/floating holidays annually

  • Paid Sick Leave: Based on location and consistent with applicable state and local law, employees receive a minimum of 40 hours of paid sick leave on January 1st of each year

  • Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees may take up to eight weeks of paid parental leave and 12 weeks of unpaid leave (varies for employees with fewer than 12 months of service and is subject to hours worked requirements)
