Job Summary Heavy equipment refers to the set of machines or vehicles which is used for the purpose of construction, engineering, or digging earth. Because of its big size, heavy weight, and critical operating methods, handling and operating such equipment requires specialized skills. Trucks, bulldozers, cranes, excavators, and compactors are such types of equipment, to name a few. MUST be able to pass a drug and alcohol test and a background check. Essential Functions Utilizes mechanical skills to maintain and service the equipment Performs work in a strenuous and dangerous work environment Provides support to successfully complete construction and engineering work Operates the equipment in the correct direction and angles to prevent accidents and damage to property Additional Responsibilities Performs periodic safety, maintenance or servicing checks to ensure proper functioning of equipment Performs minor repair work during functioning problems Informs and advises Management or repairmen for major repairs or maintenance Works in coordination with staff, responding to signals and directions Adheres to safe practices and procedures and work site or traffic laws Performs other duties, as needed and when assigned Qualifications Must be physically able to endure strenuous and dangerous work environments Must have at least 2-3 years excavation experience on site development jobs NOT coal related. Must work related to site development for buildings, highways, and/or utilities. Must be physically able (have physical strength) to operate heavy and power-driven equipment Must be able to work as part of a team Must be able to communicate and interact verbally and in written form Must be attentive to details and able to make good decision Must possess the ability to analyze information and/or a situation and display strong problem-solving skills Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision Must be able to complete work projects on time and in an effective manner Able to pass random, pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, follow-up, post-accident, and return to duty drug and alcohol tests.
