About the Position: This position is with the Joint Munitions Command located at Pine Bluff Arsenal in Pine Bluff Arkansas. This position serves as Safety and Occupational Health Specialist, involved in the design and management of safety and occupational health programs involving hazardous materials. Responsibilities Apply laws and regulations, policies and/or procedures related to safety and occupational health. Evaluate the safety of the handling, storage, and/or disposal of explosives and hazardous materials. Conduct analysis, write programs, assess lockout/tag out procedures and extend accepted safety principles in order to develop, implement and maintain a comprehensive safety and occupational health program. Performs inspections and surveys of assigned aspects of the facilities, equipment, and operations for which the installation has responsibility, to ensure compliance with safety and occupational health regulations and requirements. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Developing and recommending safety and occupational health policy to higher levels of management; 2) Applying safety and occupational health laws, regulations, principles, theories, practices, and procedures to advise on or resolve technical matters dealing with occupational safety and health requirements; 3) Developing safety and occupational health standards, regulations, practices, and procedures to eliminate or control potential hazards; 4) Conducting inspections or risk assessments involving Hazardous materials and equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Compliance Inspection and Program Management Hazardous Materials Safety and Health Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) Hazard Control Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. JMC's mission is to support the production, storage, distribution, and demilitarization of munitions. This position serves as a Safety and Occupational Health Specialist located at Pine Bluff Arsenal, AR, which is a subordinate installation of JMC.
