The Production Manager role is based in Picton, ON and reports directly to the Assistant Plant Manager. Picton is located in Prince Edward County, an island in Lake Ontario where you come to fall in love with food, drink, nature, art, and community all over again.
What you’ll get to do
Ensure the overall production process works at the optimum level, to the right rate and quality of output, in order to meet supply needs.
Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
Deliver the optimal technological process of clinker/cement production to deliver the consistently high quality product at the lowest possible cost.
Assess and make recommendations regarding processes and equipment to improve the reliability and performance.
Monitor modifications and upgrades, and troubleshoot issues.
Prepare reports, flow diagrams, and charts to ensure consistent, effective, and well understood processes .
Manage and lead the production department work and people.
Collaborate with the laboratory to monitor and improve quality.
Participate at the development and follow-up the Capital Expenditures (CAPEX) Plan.
Collaborate with the Heidelberg Cement Competence Center Cement (CCC) to share and implement leading practices.
Develop the technical and leadership capability of operators and Production Supervisors.
Essential Experience and Skills
At least 5 years of cement plant operating experience (e.g. process engineering, supervision)
Progressive responsibility experience in production management including prior supervisory experience
Experience in a unionized environment is an asset
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a relevant discipline
Motivation, ability, and willingness to be on-call as required
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot operational problems with cement manufacturing equipment
Strong PC skills, including spreadsheet, word processing, and inventory control software
Excellent analytical, problem solving, communication and decision making skills
Work Environment
- Role operates in a manufacturing environment with moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, elevated noise levels, and dusty conditions.
