Summary of Position
The Underwriter supports the SVP – Transportation & Logistics with new and renewal account review, quoting, and general data processing functions while providing prompt, efficient, high-quality service in a fast-paced multi-tasking team environment.
Position Functions
The primary focus includes but not limited to:
Acts as the underwriter, as per UW Authority Statement provided by Management
Communicate with brokers in a timely and professional manner. Maintain a concern for timeliness and completeness when interacting with internal and external clients.
Collect and review all required documents and data received on new submissions and renewals, including data entry into proprietary systems, document preparation (quotes, binders, policy, and endorsements), and various clerical duties that include photocopying, typing, scanning, faxing, and filing of documents.
Perform other projects or tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
The Candidate must be self-motivated and be able to work independently with general supervision. The candidate must have excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a team-oriented high-paced, high volume office environment. The candidate must demonstrate a high level of professionalism and be able to work effectively in a team environment and interact with all levels of a company staff including management, operations, etc. with a customer service focus on internal and external customers.
Essential Requirements
3 Years of insurance experience in marine, transportation and/or logistics
Other Requirements
College degree, preferred
Professional designations (CPCU, ARM), preferred
Physical Requirements
Must be able to sit for long periods of times, communicate via telephone, and operate a computer, and copy machine

Hours of Operation and Working Conditions
This position supports our marketing efforts internationally. This position's work hours are Monday through Friday 9am - 5pm, in a hybrid work environment. Our hybrid environment is 3 days within our business-casual office environment. Of these 3 days in the office, Wednesday and Thursday are required, and employees may work from home the other 2 days. Our employees choose their schedule. This position requires occasional flexibility for working additional hours to accomplish project objectives. The ability to travel is critical to this job.
