Virgin Galactic Sr. Manager, People Business Partner in Phoenix, Arizona

Based in Phoenix/Mesa, AZ, this position is an onsite role and is responsible for aligning business goals and objectives with teammates and management at the designated site. This position formulates partnerships across multiple HR functions to develop and deliver on service needs. The position maintains an effective level of engagement, credibility, business acumen, trust, and ability to coach and mentor across all levels to ensure the teammate experience is a forefront need. Versatility and adaptability are key.
Our Phoenix/Mesa location is our newest facility therefore the individual for this position will also be part of the infrastructure task force responsible for business and building requirements.
This position reports to the Vice President, People Strategy & Operations.
Responsibilities:
Supports strategic, operational, and business processes in alignment with the People Team and emphasis on business partner initiatives.
Build and nurture strong relationships across senior and executive leadership in partnership with the broader HR functions.
Key partner with functional people team to include Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, Compensation, Operations, Benefits, Employee Relations, Data Science, and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging.
Provide strategic HR leadership and consultation focused on creating innovative strategies to anticipate and assess emerging business, organization, or people trends, and identify and implement the appropriate HR solutions.
Provide day-to-day HR support to site location teammates.
Consults with site leadership, providing HR guidance.
Lead cross-functional projects in support of HR initiatives.
Provides day-to-day performance management guidance and counsel to management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
Serves as the teammate advocate by building strong, collaborative relationships with teammates at all levels.
Works closely with management and teammates to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
Active participant in driving employee engagement and culture, with emphasis in embedding and executing on Diversity & Inclusion strategies.
Manages and assists resolving concerns.
Conduit and partner with appropriate People Team functions for HR policy and procedure guidance and interpretation.
Aligns HR initiatives and functions with the business goals, objectives, and needs.
Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership to develop solutions, programs, and policies.
Assists in supporting annual HR programs including but not limited to goals & objectives setting, performance evaluations/reviews, compensation planning, talent assessment and succession planning.
Maintain an effective level of business literacy to provide a consultative approach to delivery of HR services. Leverage HR / business skills and knowledge to challenge or influence leadership in decision-making processes.
Key partner with the People Experience and Operations team on processes and documentation with ability to build and/or evolve scalable HR processes to support the business.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Experience
7+ years of experience in human resources, preferably in the HR Business Partner function
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, or related field
Knowledge of aerospace to include manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain
Ability to provide creative solutions and unique approaches to HR/business challenges
Authentic thought partner with confidence and courage to push boundaries in a changing environment
Bring high EQ and people perspective to collaborative discussions
Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills
Experience leading or participating in cross-functional projects to support business objectives, goals, and initiatives
Proven consulting and change management experience
Demonstrated experience with shaping culture and employee engagement initiatives
Proven knowledge of HR industry practices to include federal, state and local laws
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Demonstrated ability to influence and partner within a diverse/complex organization to help drive business results
Proven ability to manage conflict and the courage to challenge organizational thinking
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

The annual U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $118,100.00–$180,200.00. The base pay actually offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, and experience and take into account internal equity. Other forms of pay (e.g., bonus or long term incentive) may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
