What You’ll Be Doing:
Job Summary:
The Software Engineering Manager at Evolent will lead a team of software/data engineers in designing, building, integrating and maintaining data pipelines to support healthcare data integration and operations. This role involves managing data from various healthcare systems, ensuring data quality, and enabling data accessibility for analysis and decision-making.
What You Will Be Doing:
Lead, mentor, and grow engineering resources, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
Identify and recruit top talent to expand the team as the company grows.
Conduct regular performance reviews, provide feedback, and create development plans for team members.
Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
Manage a large-scale migration project, ensuring minimal disruption to existing services and seamless integration with the enterprise system.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, to align engineering efforts with business objectives
Drive the development and enhancement of our pipelines, to ensure it meets the highest standards of data quality and performance.
Quickly identify gaps in team processes and institute "just in time" processes, tools, and best practices to solve gaps just before they become a problem.
Ensure all data engineering activities comply with healthcare regulations and standards, such as HIPAA.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree.
Proven experience in software/data engineering, with a focus on healthcare data. Previous leadership or management experience is preferred.
3+ years of experience in designing solutions and strategic planning, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, SQL, and .NET full stack development. Experience with data engineering tools and platforms like Apache Spark, Hadoop, and cloud services (e.g., AWS, GCP) is a plus.
Experience with developing cloud-native services and applications, either on the public cloud (AWS/Google/Azure) or an equivalent private cloud.
Experience with healthcare regulations and standards, such as HIPAA, as well as healthcare systems and domains (FHIR/HL7, EMR/EHR, Claims, Members, Providers, Payors, etc.).
Experience with designing and implementing well-thought-out APIs in a service-oriented architecture.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Technical Requirements:
We require that all employees have the following technical capability at their home: High speed internet over 10 Mbps and, specifically for all call center employees, the ability to plug in directly to the home internet router. These at-home technical requirements are subject to change with any scheduled re-opening of our office locations.

The expected base salary/wage range for this position is $125,000 - 145,000. This position is also eligible for a bonus component that would be dependent on pre-defined performance factors. As part of our total compensation package, Evolent is proud to offer comprehensive benefits (including health insurance benefits) to qualifying employees. All compensation determinations are based on the skills and experience required for the position and commensurate with experience of selected individuals, which may vary above and below the stated amounts.
