The Role:

This position reports to the Director, International Government Solutions & Strategy of GM Defense (GMD) LLC. The Senior Manager leads a cross-functional, matrixed team of GMD senior managers to accomplish specified international Government Solutions & Strategy tasks, including identifying and qualifying new business opportunities, building/maintaining international customer relationships, and capture and proposal preparation to grow GMD’s international business. While this position will, of necessity, involve international travel, there is no requirement for the person filling this position to reside outside the continental United States.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

  • Support the Director, International Government Solutions & Strategy in the development of International Business portions of the GM Defense Long Term Plan and Annual Operating Plan (AOP).

  • Meet or exceed all specified AOP and long-range goals and objectives related to International Business.

  • Leads cross-functional capture and proposal preparation team consisting of GMD operations, legal, contracting, product development, finance professionals and, as required, GM LLC technical experts. The cross-functional team must execute capture activities that include opportunity identification, customer shaping, technical demonstrations, Gate briefings to support GMD SLT decision making, licensing GMD products for export, management of International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Foreign Military Sales (FMS), Foreign Military Financing (FMF), and Direct Commercial Sales (DCS). Scope includes handling/safeguard of US Department of Defense Classified and CUI materials.

  • Develop and sustain strong customer relationships with international customers; other Primes and Partners integral to GM Defense international business; and US Department of Defense organizations, departments, and agencies relevant to conduct of Foreign Military Sales and Direct Commercial Sales.

  • Coordinate meetings with customers, competitors, clients, and teammates to develop market insight on requirements, acquisition strategy, acquisition timing, and contract vehicle choices.

  • Support GM Defense activities regarding Defense Department processes for Foreign Military Sales and Direct Commercial Sales.

  • Understand and help shape the development of solutions to customer capability requirements/gaps, in accordance with GM Defense objectives and product line strategies.

  • Assist in establishing, communicating, and managing International Government Solutions & Strategy priorities.

  • Ensure adherence to GM Company and GM Defense Values and Behaviors as well policies & processes. Document and share best practices across Company.

  • Key participant in Capture/Proposal activities for approved opportunities Pursuit Decisions, Bid/No Bid gates, and Formal Pursuit Management Review meetings.

Additional Job Description

Your Skills & Abilities:​ ( Required Qualifications):

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration/International Affairs or equivalent experience

  • 6 years of experience in Government Solutions & Strategy leader with a relevant experience along with the defense industry, working international sales and, ideally, in a relevant customer role.

  • 6 years of experience identifying and qualifying new international business opportunities, build and maintain global customer relationships, and manage proposal preparations and manage Capture/Gate Process Cross Functionally and leading Business Development campaigns.

  • Experienced in MS Office and tools used in a remote work environment.

  • Has direct experience and high-level of understanding of international defense/security business both in Foreign Military Sales and Direct Commercial Sales.

  • Must be persuasive, have excellent people skills, be able to motivate and provide leadership to diverse groups, and be willing and able to commit time and effort to a high change, fast paced and demanding business environment.

  • An effective communicator who speaks with confidence and through action, gains the respect of an established management team.

  • Must be a self-starting, hands-on, “roll-up-the-sleeves” team member with strong analytical and problem-solving skills who can work with people at all levels.

  • Must be able to work independently and must have critical thought skills.

  • Must be a team player.

  • Extensive experience working with international executive leaders (customers, culture, buying processes, etc.).

  • Comfortable operating in a fast paced, high-tech environment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and analytical skills.

  • Travel required 40% or higher based on business needs.

  • Excellent business acumen.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Direct experience identifying and leading the capture of unrestricted prime opportunities and/or strategic subcontracting opportunities through small and large business partnerships within the federal DoD market.

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR); and demonstrated understanding of all contract types (e.g., multiple, and single award ID/IQ, OTAs, etc.) and payment types (e.g., FFP, Cost Reimbursable, and T&M).

  • Principle based decision maker that gets the respect, trust and confidence of peers and subordinates.

  • A current security clearance is preferred.

Compensation:

The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of New York, Colorado, California, or Washington.

  • The salary range for this role is $110,00 - $172,100. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.

  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
