Note: This position is only open to Arizona residents.

What you will do:

  • Analyzes complex financial data and extracts and defines relevant information; interprets data for the purpose of determining past financial performance and/or to project a financial probability.

  • Reviews costs and performs cost benefit analysis related to projects and/or programs

  • Performs statistical, cost and financial analysis of data reported in various financial systems

  • Develops financial reports for forecasting, trending and results analysis

  • Works with stakeholders to prepare comprehensive financial models-sometimes with limited assumptions or abstract concepts

  • Attends formal and informal management planning, policy and decision-making sessions concerning matters involving important financial considerations in order to fulfill requests for financial data and advice.

  • Performs high level expenditure and revenue forecasting analysis, capital improvement projection cost studies, and other related matters pertaining to budget projections in order to assist senior management and department heads to make informed decisions.

  • Participating in the preparation and compilation of the annual financial plan, coordinating across functional groups

  • Works closely with senior management/cost center heads to ensure they have the tools and report necessary to develop and modify their budgets throughout the fiscal year.

  • Ad hoc reporting and other projects as assigned by management.

  • Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities

What you will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or other related discipline from a regionally accredited institution. Master's preferred

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience.

  • Experience including advanced financial reporting skills to include designing financial reports within a data-warehouse environment.

  • Advanced Excel and Database skills, including experience with financial modeling

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to present data, reports and analyses in an effective manner to a variety of audiences.

  • A broad knowledge of and ability to utilize principles, methods, techniques and systems of financial management

  • Ability to plan, direct and coordinate difficult and complex programs

  • Ability to develop, apply, and adjust financial plans and policies to assist departments in attaining objectives

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of key management, the latter requiring the exercise of tact, ingenuity and resourcefulness.

  • Ability to apply a high level of sound, independent judgment in the solution of financial problems and in the administration of a financial management program.

  • Good planning and organizational skills with attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.

  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and maintaining good working relationships.

  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with people of diverse cultural backgrounds.

  • Knowledgeable of accounting principles.

  • Ability to extract data from database systems.

  • Proficient ability to utilize computer and Microsoft applications

  • Stays abreast of current trends, government regulatory environments, technology and GCU policies and procedures.

  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.
