Honeywell Principal R&D Project Engineer in Phoenix, Arizona

This position is for a Principal Research and Development (R&D) Project Engineer in Propulsion Technology Development within the Advance Technology organization. This position would develop next generation's turbine engine products and systems as part of a highly engaged and integrated engineering team. You will be a technical focal point across Honeywell Aerospace engineering teams creating solutions and systems that meet the evolving needs of our customers. You will leverage advanced tools and techniques to deliver high impact business results while serving as a technical leader and coach to other engineers and technology stakeholders. By collaborating with customers and broader engineering teams, you will influence product and methodology developments to advance the technology.

Key responsibilities:

  • This position involves technology activities in support of the Honeywell Engines Technology Plans.

  • Key aspects of this position involve program management and the transition of propulsion technologies into Honeywell’s products.

  • Overall responsibilities include project scope and plan definition; and project execution including cost control, schedule, and risk management for multiple Advanced & Applied Propulsion Systems and Component Technology projects within the Advanced Propulsion & Power group.

  • The successful candidate will lead a multi-disciplinary matrix team with internal departments, external suppliers, engineers, financial planning & control personnel and resident experts to accomplish project objectives.

  • As the project owner, this position is the single point of accountability for a project/program and would also lead advance technology proposals, manage cost and support technical marketing.

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics

  • +8 years experience leading research and development technology projects within the gas turbine industry or equivalent.

  • Proven track record of technical leadership, project engineering and program management

  • Ability to apply project management skills and ability to lead and work effectively as part of a multi-disciplined team

  • Financial acumen and experience managing projects with use of SAP, Project Management tools and experience with

  • Agile program management methodologies

  • Proven capability to bring together both theory/analysis and practice to deliver high impact business results

  • Ability to identify problems and significantly improve or change existing methods and techniques, strong problem solving and risk mitigation skill

  • Ability to influence internal and external parties to deliver advanced tools, methodologies, and product designs.
