Robert Half Medical Billing Specialist in Phoenix, Arizona

Description

We are offering a contract to hire role for a Medical Billing Specialist position in Phoenix, Arizona. The role involves significant interaction with billing systems and requires an individual with a strong understanding of accounts receivable and billing functions. The successful candidate will be working in the healthcare industry, specifically in an outpatient behavioral clinic setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures proper follow-up is performed on the back-end aspects of the revenue cycle process related to reimbursement, including projects, problem and issues escalation, and research

  • Analyzes billing and claims for accuracy and completion; submits claims to proper insurance entities and follows up on any issues

  • Collaborates with other staff/departments to obtain and analyze additional member information to document and process billing in alignment with department policies and protocols

  • Analyzes trends impacting charges, coding, collection, and accounts receivable and takes appropriate action to realign staff and revise policies and procedures

  • Stays current with carrier rule changes and distributes the information within the department

  • Maintains a working knowledge of all health information management issues such as HIPAA and any/all health regulations

  • Monitors health plan response files to ensure appropriate action is occurring, including timely posting of files to the system

  • Ensures accurate reimbursement is being received for services rendered

  • Ensures accurate and timely posting of all remits and identifies payer trends and concerns

  • Analyzes system data and reports, making recommendations to improve processes as needed

  • Remains up to date with current coding and billing regulations and compliance requirements

    Requirements

• Familiarity with Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) is needed.

• Proficiency in using the EHR System is a must.

• Strong knowledge of Accounts Receivable (AR) procedures is required.

• Expertise in handling Appeals processes is crucial.

• Understanding of Benefit Functions is necessary.

• Experience in Billing Functions is essential.

• Knowledge of Claim Administration procedures is needed.

• Ability to understand and interpret EOB - Explanation of Benefits is crucial.
