Overview & Purpose

PAID INTERNSHIP: $20.00/Hour

Target 11-week Internship Dates: 5/19/25 – 7/31/25

(4-10 work schedule M-Th 6am - 4:30pm) Some flexibility with scheduled hours. There may be the option for a few telecommute days, but not on a weekly basis (conditions apply).

Work collaboratively with the CAP Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) team to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of industrial hygiene, safety, and environmental concerns in the workplace.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with CAP Senior Industrial Hygienist to assess and quantify employee exposure to various occupational hazards such as noise, chemicals, heat, and particulates throughout the aqueduct system.

  • Assist EH&S staff with conducting workplace inspections at various facilities.

  • Assist with confined space field audits.

  • Complete a project related to monitoring the hazards of a particular job or work environment to promote the health and well-being of our employees. The project will include understanding the risks associated with tasks and utilizing the results to educate employees on hazard mitigation.

    At end of the 11-week engagement, the intern will prepare and deliver a presentation which includes:

  • A summary of the work

  • What he/she learned

  • An evaluation of the intern experience at CAP

  • Recommendations for future interns

    CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Junior or higher-level student (or recent grad) working toward a degree in Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, Environmental Sciences, or similar field.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.

  • Clear oral communication skills.

  • Excellent writing abilities.

  • Must have a valid Driver's License, maintain a good driving record, and have at least TWO YEARS of driving experience.

  • Must submit transcripts (official or unofficial) with the online application.

  • Must be legally authorized to work a paid internship in the United States.
