Job Purpose

Installs, troubleshoots, and repairs: electrical, instrument, and controls systems for new and existing equipment. Assists with technical design of controls systems to meet safety, quality, and production requirements. Provides preventative maintenance schedules, frequency, and requirements, as well as data analysis and system information integrity and accuracy. Provides maintenance support and coverage as needed or assigned by Supervisor. Provides troubleshooting of control and instrumentation systems to solve problems and must have ability to trouble shoot and repair same and other mechanical and hydraulic system.

Principal Accountabilities

  1. Performs maintenance duties as needed.

  2. Configure and troubleshoot basic programming on various systems or interfaces.

  3. Serves as a technical resource person for electrical, instrumentation and controls for safety and production endeavors. Serves as lead for LOTO development and documentation.

  4. Updates drawings and diagrams using via Cad related to electrical or mechanical designs.

  5. Assists Maintenance Supervisor and Engineering in the research of new, hard-to-find, replacement, or obsolete parts.

  6. New project design, installation, and start-ups for: PLC programming (Allen Bradley), instrumentation and HMI (Human-Machine-Interface) programming.

  7. Develop and implement process improvement ideas focusing on equipment controls and managing equipment information.

  8. Analyze information and evaluate results in order to choose the best solution and solve problems.

  9. Use computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, set up functions, enter data, or process information.

  10. Review existing electrical engineering criteria to identify necessary revisions, deletions, or amendments to outdated material.

  11. Modify electrical prototypes, parts, assemblies, or systems to correct functional deviations.

  12. Ability to interpret electrical diagrams, loads, schematics, and code.

  13. Collaborate with Engineers or other personnel to identify, define, or solve developmental problems.

  14. Assemble electrical systems or prototypes using hand tools or measuring equipment.

  15. Assist in the development of new technologies in the areas of preventive/predictive maintenance.

  16. Assists with determining spare maintenance parts inventory requirements and procurement.

  17. Assign by identification and properly naming parts or equipment in UniPoint for easy access and retrieval.

  18. Determine the reason for part failures and work with vendors to obtain improved parts to eliminate breakdown of equipment.

  19. Assists in solving practical problems while dealing with a variety of existing variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Coordinates and/or leads more complex problem solving and root cause identification tasks.

  20. Maintain work area and company property to an acceptable housekeeping cleanliness (5S).

  21. Attend courses for training and retraining as required. Train others on course material as needed.

  22. Comply with all company policies, rules, and procedures.

  23. Perform all duties and additional duties as assigned by supervision.

Knowledge / Skills / Experience

• Associates degree in instrumentation and controls + 5 Years experience, or 10 Years industry experience with instrumentation and controls.

• Journeyman Electrical License (preferred)

• Troubleshoot Controls, PLC Programming, HMI, SCADA (Allen Bradley, GE, Mitsubishi)

• Experience with UTT equipment (UPW, air conditioning, drainage system) and control systems required for a cleanroom environment.

• Electrical, Mechanical, and Hydraulic aptitude

• Understanding of arc flash Hazards and associated electrical safety practices.

  • The hourly rate range for this position is $35 - $45. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
