The Global Services Group (GSG) at American Express delivers extraordinary customer care to cardmembers and merchants around the world, while providing world-class credit, collections, and fraud services, and driving revenue growth for the company. The Global Card Issuance Product Delivery team is a team of product management professionals leading the product strategy, roadmap, and delivery for the suite of capabilities in support of Card Issuance processes globally. We are responsible for empowering our colleagues with tools and solutions needed to drive engagement and satisfaction with our customers as well as recognize and solve their needs with ease.

We are seeking a Strategic Director, Digital Product Development who is eager to lead a highly motivated team and deliver on multiyear roadmap. This individual will create end-to-end customer journeys and design experiences to build products that our colleagues love while delivering clear business outcomes.

This person will collaborate across the business, operations, and technology teams to manage the entire lifecycle of card replacement, card issuance, card design maintenance & inventory management from ideation to launch and beyond. This role requires a strategic thinker with inquisitiveness to learn complex processes, best practices and device payment policies and trends. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a proven track record of managing successful digital products.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Define and implement the overall card issuance strategy in alignment with Amex’s vision and goals.

  • Coach and lead a team of high performing product managers and owners through the creation of the platform roadmaps, feature prioritization and execution.

  • Work with key partners, colleagues, and leadership to define and articulate a product strategy and roadmap with clearly defined business metrics and targets.

  • Enable cross-functional collaboration with relevant teams within the product scope.

  • Communicate and build consensus across teams in refining the product backlog and prioritization.

  • Appropriately identify and raise risks, challenges, opportunities to advance the team.

  • Uses internal data to understand measures of success and to track performance to inform the roadmap.

  • Guide the team in translating the product roadmap into well-defined product requirements/user stories and acceptance criteria.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8-10 years of experience in Product Management and/or Product Development.

  • Agile/SAFE experience a plus.

  • A proven track record of successfully launching and managing digital products.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and inspire others.

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Experience working with engineering and process teams.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage, influence, and inspire partners and stakeholders to drive decision making, collaboration and alignment.

  • Ability to build strong relationships with key business partners and stakeholders and take a proactive approach to collaboration.

  • Excellent project and time management skills with the ability to self-initiate on required tasks to drive business outcomes.

  • Highly motivated and passionate for creating best-in-class products and customer experiences.

Qualifications

Salary Range: $150,000.00 to $225,000.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits
