SMBC Analyst, Credit Card Operations Analyst (Remote) in Phoenix, Arizona

The anticipated salary range for this role is between $62,000.00 and $75,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the VP, Card Operations, this position offers the candidate the opportunity to support the build of a credit card operation from the ground up, as it builds to its product launch. Initially, while pre-launch, the position will focus on tasks related to the operational build and implementation.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee vendor onboarding and management.

  • Develop and implement processes, procedures, and controls for servicing, money movement, payments, disputes, settlement, and card production.

  • Conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

  • Ensure quality assurance.

  • Post-implementation, manage operations to maintain safety, security, customer focus, and efficiency in line with bank standards and culture.

  • The ideal candidate will possess a broad range of skills and experiences, including proven success with card processes and a strong understanding of risk and compliance culture.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:

  • College Degree.

  • Over 2 years of experience in credit card operations, including issuing, processing, and managing credit card transactions.

  • More than 2 years of implementation experience, specifically in setting up and optimizing credit card systems and processes.

  • 2+ years of expertise in money movement and payments, with a strong understanding of ACH processes (ACH accreditation is a plus).

  • Exceptional analytical skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving, particularly in identifying and resolving issues related to credit card transactions and fraud detection.

  • Strong project management capabilities, with a track record of successfully leading credit card-related projects from inception to completion.

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and Word, with the ability to create detailed reports and presentations related to credit card operations.

  • Effective at planning, prioritizing, and multitasking, especially in high-pressure environments typical of credit card operations.

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines, ensuring timely processing and settlement of credit card transactions.

  • Subject Matter Expert in Card Operations, with in-depth knowledge of credit card lifecycle management, including issuance, activation, usage, and deactivation.

  • Proven risk management skills with credit card domain expertise, including fraud prevention, chargeback management, and compliance with industry regulations.

  • Experienced operational process owner, responsible for designing and implementing efficient credit card processing workflows.

  • Skilled subject matter expert and tester, with hands-on experience in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for credit card systems to ensure functionality and compliance.

  • Demonstrated ability to execute projects efficiently, particularly those involving the integration of new credit card technologies and platforms.

  • Expert in money movement and payments, with a comprehensive understanding of payment gateways, merchant services, and reconciliation processes.
