Thomas Jefferson Univ SPD Processing Supervisor (Full-Time/Split-Shift) Center City in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Reference #: 9310313 Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday (5 pm - 1 am) Primary Responsibilities:
The Sterile Processing amp; Case Cart (SPCC) Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day performance of the SPCC technical staff. The SPCC Supervisor creates staff assignments in all areas, monitors productivity, time and attendance, and payroll, assesses staff competencies, communicates pertinent information to management, colleagues and staff, and delivers staff coaching, counseling, and corrective action. The Supervisor is also responsible for resolving issues, guiding technical staff toward organizational and departmental goals, completing Quality Assurance Audits, conducting OR rounds and other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:
bull; Delegates workload to staff members in order to achieve or exceed planned outcomes bull; Works effectively as part of a team to achieve departmental and organizational outcomes bull; Coaches staff members in order to encourage, motivate, and guide staff members in learning and improving effectiveness bull; Demonstrates managerial courage in providing tactful direct and actionable feedback to deal head-on with people problems and challenging situations bull; Anticipates, recognizes, and deals effectively with existing or potential conflicts at the individual, group, or situation level in diverse situations bull; Utilizes critical thinking and problem solving tools and techniques to analyze situations fully and accurately and to reach productive decisions bull; Demonstrates accuracy and attention to detail and the ability to process information with high-levels of accuracy bull; Collaborates in the development, implementation and evaluation of quality assurance activities, policies and procedures to ensure the safety and integrity of sterile processing products bull; Effectively communicates pertinent information to management, colleagues and staff members bull; Keeps current on knowledge of Sterile Processing standards, regulations, protocols, products, and equipment according to AAMI, AORN, Commonwealth of PA Department of Health, Joint Commission, FDA, and CDC bull; Interacts with co-workers, staff members, key stakeholders, and visitors consistent with Jefferson policies and procedures and iSCORE values Educational / Training Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED Required Associates or Bachelorrsquo;s Degree PreferredLicensing Requirements:
Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) Required
Certified Healthcare Leader (CHL) Required or obtained within one year
Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) Required or obtained within one year
OR Certified Surgical Technician (CST) Required
OR Registered Nurse Required
Experience Requirements: Three to five years of sterile processing experience, including decontamination, tray assembly, sterilization, case cart assembly, and storage of surgical instruments and supplies in an acute care setting required. One to two years of experience in the role of a Lead Sterile Processing Technician or Supervisor strongly preferred. Covid Vaccination is a requirement for employment at Jefferson for employees working at Jeffersonrsquo;s clinical entities or at the University.
