Principal contributions are scientific or intellectual, characterized by originality and creativity. Is an established principal investigator conducting research in a specific scientific area; Develops new experimental procedures and hypotheses for further investigation and publishes research results. Initiates and conducts independent experiments without supervision and guidance from other researchers. Collaborates and interacts with other researchers within the institution and at other institutions. Prepares manuscripts and abstracts for publication. Publishes scientific articles in refereed / peer reviewed journals, submits grant proposals for external funding; serves as an expert resource for colleagues and as a mentor for less experienced research scientist and personnel. Manages/supervises other research staff and has overall responsibility for the management and direction of laboratory.

Reserved for Investigators awaiting faculty appointments; Renowned Researchers, Researchers with highly specialized and sought after experience, skills, knowledge. Compensation set forth in contractual agreement.

What you will do Conducts research of significant scientific value in the basic and/or translational science area(s) relevant to his/her practice specialty Responsible for the design, planning and conduct of their own experiments and that of other lab personnel Collaborates with researchers, external agencies and institutions to develop cooperative research initiatives Directly responsible for procurement of additional funding through grant writing and contributions to proposal development Trains technical staff, students, fellows & physicians in lab procedures Provides operational guidance over the laboratory Oversees management of daily resource allocations of the laboratory Supervises several junior technical staff Provides direction regarding overall laboratory staffing and specific research projects Identifies and interviews candidates for open positions Composes publications for peer reviewed, scientific, quality and management journals Participates in educational programs and teaching assignments

Education Qualifications Doctorate Required

Experience Qualifications Post-Doctoral fellowship experience Required At least four (4) years scientifically relevant post-fellowship experience. Required At least six (6) years scientifically relevant post-fellowship experience. Preferred At least twelve (12) years of scientifically relevant experience Preferred

Skills and Abilities Minimum 50% of individual effort is self-funded (strongly preferred).
