Summary:

The Department Administrative Specialist is to assist the department chairperson by overseeing, implementing, and following through on a number of assigned tasks. Assuming the primary responsibility for planning and implementing specific projects. They are responsible for all administrative tasks associated with scheduling undergraduate lectures/laboratories each semester as well as graduate course offerings at the Main and other campuses. Prepare for the Chairperson all faculty teaching schedules each semester, review master schedule, and complete all section updates and course inventory forms.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

At least three years of directly related experience providing administrative support in a higher education setting. Experience working with students and faculty. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:

*Demonstratedproficiency with MS Office Suite and Adobe.

*Demonstrated familiarity with (orwillingness to learn and be trained in) Banner, Kronos, Taleo.

*Demonstratedexperience in providing high levels of administrative support in an office setting.

*Demonstratedexpertise in scheduling spaces and organizing events.

*Ability to supervise student workers.

*Demonstrated organizational skills, along with the ability to multi-task and successfully complete projects with competing deadlines.

*Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

*Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, along with the ability to interact with a diverse constituent population.

*Demonstrated ability to be detail oriented.

Preferred:

Bachelor's degree.

This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
