Job Summary
Responsible for leading data study in telemetry as BAU. Developing, implementing, and testing ML models for Operations. Utilizes a strong background in telemetry and leverages AWS experience to design and implement telemetry data analysis strategies. Develops advanced analytics models, and provides data-driven insights to improve products and services. Within a squad of developers, the Principal Data Engineer will be a technical resource on data query, optimization, pipeline development and optimization, as well as big data best practices. Understands global privacy laws and their application to sensitive data. Well-versed in big data concepts, analytical engines and data science. Experience in broadband communications and technology is helpful.
Job Description
Core Responsibilities
Works with Operations partners to create ML Models from relational telemetry, explores targets of opportunity for data study to improve the customer experience, and drives product improvements.
Collaborates with project stakeholders to identify product and technical requirements. Conducts analysis to determine integration needs.
Designs data products, supports data products under development and customizes current applications. Develops ETL pipelines and optimizes for minimal budget impact, maximum reliability.
Trains junior Software Development Engineers in internally developed data applications.
Oversees the researching, writing and editing of documentation and technical requirements, including data pipeline designs, evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals and formal recommendations and reports.
Keeps current with technological developments within the industry. Monitors and evaluates competitive applications and products. Reviews literature, patents and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects.
Assists with technical leadership throughout the design process and assists in guidance with regards to practices, procedures and techniques. Serves as a guide mentor for Data Engineers.
Assists in tracking and evaluating performance metrics. Ensures team delivers on time, to specification and within budget.
Works with Operations team to determine if data fit specification and technical requirements. Tests and evaluates systems, subsystems and components.
Acts as a technical contact and liaison for outside vendors and/or customers.
Presents and defends architectural, design and technical choices to internal and external audiences.
Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
