Salary Grade: T28 Learnmoreaboutthe"T"salary structure here:https://careers.temple.edu/sites/careers/files/documents/TSalaryStructure.pdf Job Summary: ReportingtotheDeanofKleinCollegeofMediaandCommunication,theDirectoroftheCenter for Community Engaged Media will lead a new academic center at Klein College that seeks to create more equitable relationships between journalism and its publics. Thedirectorwillleadday-to-dayoperationsincollaborationwithfacultyadvisorsandmanagea portfolio of grant-supported research-based projects involving community stakeholders, researchers,students,journalistsandjournalismorganizations.Thedirectorwilldevelopcenter programming, collaborate on fundraising, and manage and report on project deliverables and budgets in consultation with Klein College administrative staff and faculty, community, and industry partners. Throughengagedresearch,collaborativeprojects,andeducationalandtrainingofferings,the center will focus on the information and storytelling needs of historically marginalized communities and the connecting and convening potential of journalism to tell stories not only about but also with and for communities. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Education & Experience: Bachelor'sdegreeandsixyearsofexperienceworkinginjournalism, includingincommunity-centeredjournalism.Experienceworkingwith diverse communities. Experience with collaborative or participatory research and/or research-based community-centered journalism initiatives. Experience managing and reporting on grant-supported projects. Experience supervising staff and managing partnerships.  Experienceinfundraising.Anequivalentcombinationofeducationand experience may be considered. Preferred: Advanceddegreeinjournalism,communicationorrelatedfield. Required Skills & Abilities: Proventrack-recordofdevelopingandleadingcommunity-centered journalism initiatives and/or initiatives to create more equitable journalism organizations and systems. Demonstrated expertise in successful project management, and detailedunderstandingofresearch-basedinterventionsandprojects. Demonstratedknowledgeofcommunityorganizingstrategiesand community engagement methods. Demonstratedknowledgeand/orexperiencewithPhiladelphia communities and/or local journalism landscape. Preferred: Experienceasaprofessionaljournalist. Experienceinfundraising. Experiencenavigatinguniversitysystems. Experiencementoringorteachingworkshopsorcoursesin community-centered journalism skills.
