Penn Presbyterian Medical Center has an Evening Shift Inpatient Pharmacist opportunity!

The Evening Shift Inpatient Pharmacist is responsible for the following:

  • Central Pharmacy – Order verification, operations, clinical questions

  • OR Satellites – Order verification for the OR and PACU settings

  • IV Room – Oversee IV Room Operations/Sterile Compounding

Evening Shift Times:

  • 11 am – 7:30 pm

  • 11:30 am – 8 pm

  • 2 pm – 10:30 pm

  • 3:30 pm – 12 am

Weekend Requirement – Every 4th weekend.

Holiday Requirement – One summer holiday, one winter holiday, and Martin Luther King Jr. Day every 3rd year.

Summer Holidays – Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day

Winter Holidays – Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Position Description:

The Department features a very active Pharmacist Intervention Program where decentralized Pharmacists interact with the Medical and Nursing Staffs to promote rational, cost-effective therapy. Penn Presbyterian Medical Center also manages a very successful Antibiotic Management Program. Presbyterian is a major teaching site for the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia and several staff members have adjunct faculty status.

Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:

Providing comprehensive, quality medication management for patients of Penn Medicine through application of pharmacy practice standards

Reviewing physician orders and dispensing medications and pharmaceutical preparations to inpatient and outpatient areas of the hospital

Maintaining accurate patient profiles and monitoring and helping manage drug therapies in order to achieve positive patient outcomes

Overseeing pharmacy technicians and students and ensuring accuracy of their work prior to dispensing

Adhering to Pharmacy Policies, Procedures, organizational goals and objectives

Performing duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, polices, and procedures

Minimum Requirements:

  • Please apply if you possess these qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy required

  • Valid and active PA license in good standing required

  • Understanding of the Joint Commission and Department of Health process required

  • Strong communication skills with all levels of staff and personnel required

  • Must demonstrate the ability to perform dosage calculations required

Required Work Experience

  • PGY 1 Residency Graduate preferred

  • 2 – 4 years of Experience preferred

  • Inpatient Hospital Experience preferred
