Onsite installation of video integration systems, surgical light suspensions, and other various surgical support equipment. Installation technicians deploy cutting edge technology in various healthcare environments including ER, OR, ICU, Trauma, CVICU, hybrid and surgery centers. As an installation technician, you would be responsible for delivering a world-class customer experience by installing integrated audio – visual, mechanical and network systems of various configurations to deliver individualized caregiving solutions. Our install technicians' partner with internal teams including sales, project management, field service and technicians. Installation technicians represent Stryker in day-to-day customer interactions through detailed communication of project timelines, preinstall requirements, equipment delivery, and room turnover.
Responsibilities
Working in a fast paced environment partnering with sales and healthcare professionals to deliver industry leading technologies to advance every day work flow in the OR.
Program and test all video integration sources to sales and customers specifications. For multi room installs, must be able to understand and implement identical install practices from room to room to maintain standards and consistency throughout the project.
Responsible for the installation of video and network cabling, as part of a team or autonomously. The planned cabling must be installed in agreement with national and international standards.
Provide high level of analytical and critical thinking skills to troubleshoot and determine root cause of any failing installation equipment to pass all functional and quality checks prior to project handoff.
Able to interpret, understand, and execute upon complex wire diagrams and CAD drawings.
Perform site readiness checks and thorough product inventory while communicating any issues to internal project team.
Partnering with project management to facilitate and coordinate expectations with customers and contractors (electricians, plumbers, GC’s, etc.)
Display high level of interpersonal skills to represent Stryker in a positive manner while on site working with OR directors, hospital staff, and other outside trades or contractors.
Must provide clear and concise daily communication to project team members which include issues identified, scope change requests, and critical milestones that impact project completion.
Required to comply with integration and FDA documentation procedures and standards during install.
Must exercise a professional appearance and acumen while interacting with all customers.
Coordinate travel arrangements for self, based on job location while considering most cost-effective measures for travel.
Is responsible for staying current on all assigned compliance and job-related training.
Ability to clearly communicate lessons learned and provide feedback to cross-functional business associates.
Provide day to day solutions to areas of opportunity that improve processes and/or products.
Has the independence and authority to perform required tasks to ensure all provisions of the quality system are met.
Must be able to travel up to 95% of the time, to and from the job site as specified by manager.
Utilizes the following equipment/Applications: Salesforce, Agile, Workday, SLMS – Compliance Wire
Other duties as assigned by manager.
Physical requirements
Heavy work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Must be able to review printed materials.
Must have demonstrated fine motor skills.
Must be able to use sophisticated test and office computer equipment (e.g., smartphone, PC, and measurement equipment etc.).
Mental requirements
Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
Must be able to analyze and resolve non-routine testing and/ or equipment issues using independent judgment.
Ability to think outside the box to get past install roadblocks pertaining to environmental or infrastructure challenges within the appropriate guidelines and safety standards. Must be able to be a part of the solution process.
Must be able to locate, follow, and comprehend detailed installation instructions and procedures with the ability to explain clearly to onsite trades or vendors.
Must be able to identify issues outside of scope of project and discuss with the appropriate individuals.
Must be able to work in a fast pace, independent, environment and exercise good judgment.
Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
Ability to review printed documents.
Skills/Experience required
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Acute attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to operate small hand tools (e.g., pliers, screwdrivers, hammer, wrenches, level, strippers, crimpers, etc.), power tools, and test equipment.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
0 – 2 year related technical experience
Strong organizational and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow.
Aptitude for cable management and termination techniques.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Must demonstrate strong ethics and character.
Must be able to interpret and execute a/v/control system flow schematics and diagrams.
Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
Intermediate PC skills and appropriate application skills.
Education/training required
Bachelor’s degree (B. S or B.A) preferred and/or equivalent experience.
0-2 years technical experience or comparable skills set.
