Salary Grade: T26 Learnmoreaboutthe"T"salary structure here:https://careers.temple.edu/sites/careers/files/documents/TSalaryStructure.pdf Job Summary: The Assistant Director for Educational Programs takes primary responsibility for developing and overseeing the Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) program. The incumbent recruits, hires, develops, and supervises a group of approximately 20 undergraduate students who serve as peer leaders in the PASS program.  The incumbent also oversees daily operations for the program, making work schedules, establishing policies and procedures, and designing instructional materials. The AD-EP proposes and develops plans for new academic support services in the Student Success Center focusing especially on group-based programs, programs that address emerging concerns for Temple students, and programs aimed at supporting high-enrollment undergraduate courses.  To this end, the AD-EP collaborates with the other SSC staff members to identify unmet needs and to explore possible ways of addressing them. The AD-EP serves as a resource for university-wide projects where expertise in teaching and learning is required. In this capacity, the incumbent consults with faculty in the disciplines, serves on a variety of committees and project teams outside of the SSC, and contributes to efforts to improve the student experiences and student success at Temple. The Assistant Director engages in ongoing research and assessment aimed at enhancing the quality and effectiveness of SSC programs.  The AD-EP also participates in the professional associations broadly linked to supplemental instruction by attending conferences, presenting original research, and engaging in professional service roles.  Performs other duties as assigned. Required Education & Experience: Master's degree, and at least 2 years of experience teaching or tutoring at the college level.  Experience working in a tutoring or other academic support center at the university level.  Experience supervising and/or developing college student staff. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Required Skills & Abilities: Familiarity with inclusive and interactive pedagogical practices Knowledge of best practices in teaching and learning. Experience developing and leading interactive courses, workshops, or professional development programs. Ability to work effectively on collaborative/team-based projects. Demonstrated interpersonal and client services skills, including the ability to interact with a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Preferred: PhD in related field Experience leading a supplemental instruction program Participation in higher education teaching practicums or workshops Familiarity with current research broadly related to student development and student success, and with research methods used in educational research.
