Job Description

About Your Role

This role oversees all finance and accounting functions for Spring Garden Capital Group, a subsidiary of OceanFirst Bank Corp specializing in small balance construction lending. Responsibilities include strategic planning and tactical implementation, such as creating new reporting frameworks and making book entries. The position ensures accurate and complete financial reporting in accordance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and internal policies, working closely with the Bank's central finance teams. It also involves analyzing new accounting standards, identifying financial trends, and supporting audit and tax processes. What You Will Do 1. Execute accounting activities including the monthly and quarterly financial close process and maintaining the divisions accounting system and records.

  1. Produce accurate and timely financial reporting up to the Bank's finance and accounting teams, supporting monthly and quarterly financial reporting cycles as well as audit and tax return processes.

  2. Ensure that financial reports comply with generally accepted accounting principles and relevant regulations.

  3. Prepare accounting analyses for sophisticated loan accounting scenarios including non-accrual loans, charge-offs, and REO accounting.

  4. Develop protocols and systems to support business data analytics, including business unit/profit center financial reporting.

  5. Support the external/internal audit request process as applicable.

  6. Support new business initiatives, system integrations, and other major change management impacting financial statements and related systems. Proactively identify opportunities and participate in projects to enhance/automate processes, implement systems, and/or enact systems enhancements to ensure and support sustainable long-term growth.

  7. Develop, implement and ensure adherence to the Bank's accounting policies and procedures, including internal controls.

What We Expect of You * Technical accounting expertise in GAAP standards for loan accounting.

  • Working knowledge of operating and accounting systems in a financial services environment and knowledge of financial institution policies and procedures; experience working in FIS/Horizon is a plus.

  • Proficiency in MS Office with a working knowledge of automated financial software packages (general ledger) and standard office equipment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to interact effectively with people across various functions, management, and external professionals (i.e., auditors and regulators).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Detail-oriented with the highest regard for accuracy, completeness, and meeting deadlines.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively collaborate and work in teams as well as work independently.

  • Ability to perform a variety of technical and analytical tasks on an independent basis.

  • Strong technical accounting acumen, with proven ability to perform complex accounting research and analysis.

Requirements

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor's degree with a concentration in Accounting. CPA is strongly desired. * A minimum of 7 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Loan accounting experience is required. INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL CONTACTS * Internal contact with department and senior managers on accounting issues or information requests, within the Spring Garden Capital Group division and the Ocean First Bank finance and accounting teams. * External contacts are occasional, primarily with auditors, tax consultants, and other vendors. WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Hybrid environment with a minimum of 3 days/week in the Philadelphia office of Spring Garden Capital Group. Free par ing provided.
