Community Recovery Alliance Peer Recovery Coach in Petoskey, Michigan

Position Summary

Candidates must have already completed a Peer Recovery Coach training program (CCAR, MDHHS, etc.). Ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of professional coaching experience. 

This is a full time, hourly position, based at the Center in Petoskey, Michigan. Access to reliable transportation and a valid driver's license are required. Normal hours are Monday through Friday -- this position will be leading evening group meetings up to twice a week (working until 7:30pm). Other periodic nights or weekends as needed for special events.

This position will be responsible for coordinating the Center and Center activities and providing short-term Recovery Coaching to our visitors.

*Does this describe you? * 

  • Experienced Peer Recovery Coach. Preferred 1 year + as a professional coach, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in group facilitation, lesson planning a plus. 
  • Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation required.
  • Having lived experience of recovery and are familiar with the recovery process and experiences. 
  • Meet the requirements to attend the MDHHS Certified Peer Recovery Coach training.
  • Use clear, compelling, correct written communication. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook  
  • Can learn integrated software systems.? 
  • Knowledge of the Recovery Community.? 
  • Willing to work with many types of recoverees, respect the diversity of all recoverees, and honor all pathways to recovery, including harm reduction.

This position is based at the Community Center providing walk-in coaching, as well as scheduled coaching sessions (in person and by phone). 

Leading Recovery Groups.

Greet visitors to the Community Center for coaching, meeting, events, etc.  

Assist visitors with basic coaching services, as well as assisting visitors with services such as using computers, signing up for MI-Bridges, connections/referrals in the community, etc. 

Coordinate the Center activities and resources such as managing our Recovery Library, overseeing client computer use, assisting clients with computer and phone use, etc. 

We focus on short-term coaching to meet immediate needs and connect individuals with other services, including connecting them to a long-term coach. Coaching is only a portion of the responsibility for this position. Other
