McLaren Health Care Educator Patient Care Services - ED Petoskey Cheboygan Campus - McLaren Careers in Petoskey, Michigan
The Educator Patient Care Services is responsible for assessing, developing, planning, coordinating, evaluating and documenting educational processes for patient education, staff education, medical staff education (when applicable). Provides consultation and facilitates continuing education through CE Provider Programs. Continually improves educational outcomes through the MNM Performance Improvement, Patient Safety and Risk Management Process. Participates in designated organizational initiatives and projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops, delivers and maintains educational processes that improve the performance and outcomes of the learners using evidence-based adult and organizational learning principles.
Acts as a consultant to staff and other members of the health care team to communicate and collaborate regarding needs assessment, curriculum development, scheduling, appropriate contexts (learners, content and setting) and evaluation of education.
Assures that the continuing education program is in compliance with the accreditation standards, policies and other regulatory requirements.
Identifies and collaborates with key partners in accomplishing the NMRH mission, using problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills, delegation and supervision, educational and organizational development.
Uses Performance Improvement tools and resources, including current research in order to design and evaluate educational processes and systems.
Evaluates and improves the quality and effectiveness of educational activities to continually improve outcomes.
Manages office operations to meet personnel, finance, legal, logistical, and accreditation standards.
Maintains educational records including offering content, attendance, evaluations and reports.
Performs other duties consistent with purpose of job as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Bachelor’s degree in nursing, education or informatics.
Licensed to practice professional nursing in the State of Michigan.
Three years experience as a nurse, preferably in an acute care hospital.
QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED
Master's degree. Master's Degree required within 5 years of hire.
Two years experience in education.
