Friendship Centers of Emmet County Development and Outreach Director in Petoskey, Michigan

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Development and Outreach to lead the fundraising and community engagement activities for Friendship Centers of Emmet County, a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring that all senior citizens have the opportunities, information, and services necessary to live healthy, safe, and active lives in dignity. The Development and Outreach Director will lead our efforts to improve community awareness of our mission, grow our fundraising efforts, and find new grant sources. The successful candidate will work closely with the Executive Director and Assistant Director to build relationships, plan events, and develop new ideas to bring Friendship Centers and its mission to the forefront in Emmet County.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Donor Relationship Building and Management

  • Build relationships with corporate and individual donors; develop and implement strategies for donor engagement and retention.
  • Create and implement a systematic approach to acknowledge and thank donors in a timely and meaningful manner; prepare personalized acknowledgment letters, phone calls, and other forms of recognition.
  • Organize host donor appreciation programs and events.

Grant Writing and Management:

  • Identify and research potential grant opportunities.
  • Write compelling grant proposals and reports.
  • Manage the grant application process and ensure compliance with grant requirements.
  • Track and report on grant outcomes and deliverables.

Fundraising

  • Plan and execute fundraising campaigns and initiatives.
  • Monitor and evaluate fundraising efforts to ensure targets are met.

Event Planning

  • Plan and coordinate fundraising and community events.
  • Oversee event logistics including venue choice, catering, and program development.

Publication Development

  • Create and manage the production of brochures, annual reports, calendars, and other printed materials as needed, working with graphic designers, printers, and vendors to produce high-quality materials.
  • Ensure that all printed materials align with the organization's branding and messaging.

Budget Management

  • Manage budgets for events, print production, media placements, donor appreciation, and other expenses for the organization's development and outreach functions.

Public Relations and Community Outreach

  • Develop and implement public relations strategies to enhance our image and visibility.
  • Coordinate with media outlets to secure coverage; draft press releases and other communication materials.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to community groups, potential donors, and other stakeholders.
  • Articulate the organization's mission, programs, and community impact in a compelling manner

Reporting and Analysis

  • Prepare reports monitoring the success of programs and budget.

* REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:*

Bachelor's degree in Non-Profit Management, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field. Prefer a minimum of 5 years of experience in development, fundraising, public relations, or related field. Proven track record in grant writing and successful grant management. Demonstrated success in building and supporting donor relationships. Experience in organizing and managing fundraising events. Strong skills in publication development and overseeing outside print production. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with donor management software.
