The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is seeking a reliable and motivated individual to join our team as a Semi-Skilled Laborer! In this position, you will provide skilled work in the maintenance of roads, trails, and facilities for our Rothrock Forest District. DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Semi-Skilled Laborer, you will primarily be responsible for performing semi-skilled labor tasks relating to the maintenance, repair, and construction of Rothrock State Forest roads, facilities, and equipment. You will also assist with wildland fire suppression, fire prevention, and pre-suppression programs and activities. Additional duties you will be responsible for include, but are not limited to: Staining and painting buildings and signs Assisting with repairs to automotive and other equipment Repairing indoor plumbing in facilities Mowing grass and removing litter and fallen trees Operating hand and power tools Installing new culverts and building headwalls Maintaining driving surfaces of state forest roads Interested in learning more? Work Schedule and Additional Information: Seasonal, full-time employment without benefits. The season runs from approximately March until November at which the employee is placed on leave without pay. Work hours are 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Tuesday - Thursday, and 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Condition of Employment: This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
