Job Description
The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for the effective execution of the purchasing process of indirect purchases, including quoting, cost savings, achieving optimal supplier quality, system integrity, providing an uninterrupted flow of required products, supporting and development of solid vendor and supplier relationships
Complementary Description
Purchasing administration for all departments using multiple platforms (ERP Purchase Order, Internet Portals, Credit Cards, Direct to Invoice)
Execute Purchase orders requirements for Capital Expenditures, Facilities, and Services
Generate Purchase orders for expenditure requests and supporting other non-production requirements
Manage existing suppliers, and support new supplier introductions
Participate in the sourcing and quoting of non-production items (test equipment, shop supplies, packaging)
Ensure the best possible value for money and adherence to price and cost targets
Supplier management to ensure on time ordering and delivery
Maintain data integrity of system within area of responsibility, including purchasing parameters
Identify opportunities for cost reduction wherever feasible and as good practice
Support Procurement & Purchasing Specialists with administration (data entry, etc.)
Other duties as required
Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum 3 years of progressive purchasing or administrative experience within an office environment
• ERP system experience within a manufacturing environment is required
• A relevant University Degree or College Diploma (e.g. Accounting, Business Administration), or equivalent experience
• Proficient user of computers and computer software (ERP/MRP II, MS Office Suite)
