Exciting Opportunity for a Production Engineer Team Leader

As a Production Engineer Team Leader, you will produce programmes for a wide variety of machine tools including lathes, driven tooling lathes, vertical machining centres, large gantry mill, vertical and horizontal borers. You will plan the manufacturing operations required to produce components and assemblies to achieve conformance to drawing and contract quality plan requirements at minimum cost to the company, and determine by calculation and the use of standard elements the setting up and run times for each operation. You will also provide a programme proving service as required at the machine tool to optimise the programme for maximum efficiency and resolve production problems.

What will you do?

  • Determine the requirement for jigs, fixtures, special tooling, production layouts and CNC programmes with due regard to batch size, repeatability, programming and fixturing costs

  • Produce designs and drawings for jigs and fixtures and special tooling

  • Provide set up drawings, tooling lists and production drawings

  • Define material form and size requirements with regard to test requirements and stock availability and at minimum cost to the company

  • Coordinate engineering change activity ensuring that routings, programmes and workshop paperwork is maintained at the latest drawing issue

  • Provide estimates of production times for sub contract components and assemblies

What Do You Need To Bring?

  • Unigraphics CAD and CAM system – minimum version NX.

  • Quality and ISO accreditation

  • Thorough knowledge of machining, fabrication, assembly, surface treatment and external processes

  • Through and in depth knowledge of Unigraphics CAD (version NX upwards) including solid modelling and development

  • Through and in depth knowledge of Unigraphics CAM (version NX upwards) including turning, milling, drilling and multi axis machining techniques

  • Through knowledge of PB2000 inventory, bill of material, production engineering and production control systems

  • Served a 4 year minimum mechanical engineering apprenticeship

  • At least 5 years in a heavy manufacturing environment

  • Experienced in programming a wide variety of machine tool control systems including, Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain and Mazak
