As a Product Sales Manager, you will support and implement the HTO-UK Aftermarket sales strategy to significantly and sustainably grow the business in line with our targets for customer acquisition and revenue growth. This role will mainly focus on customers that have Peter Brotherhood products. You will be responsible for the order intake associated with all aspects of our 5D model for the assigned installed base. You should also achieve sustainable growth and hit sales and revenue targets through direct selling, successfully enabling our colleagues within Howden regional locations and working with agents. You should always ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction throughout your daily tasks.

What Needs To Be Done?

  • Builds and promotes strong, long-lasting customer relationships by partnering with them and understanding their needs.

  • Direct management of allocated key customer accounts and projects including Customer Care Agreements and Customer Training.

  • Preparing the quotations and proposals for Field Service, CCAs, Customer Training, Gearboxes and any combined scope bids (not including repairs and upgrades) in order to secure new contracts.

  • Occasional project management of Field Service projects when other colleagues are on leave or over capacity.

  • Managing the handover process for orders to the appropriate colleague ensuring they are fully briefed including work scope and the customer experience is seamless. Support colleagues with customer issues they encounter during delivery where it is possible to assist.

  • Fully support the processes for revenue recognition and cash collection.

  • Ensure all requirements for export and legal compliance are understood and complied with before engaging with a potential customer.

  • Seeking and fully supporting opportunities to cross sell other Howden products or OOEM work.

  • Present sales and revenue reports with realistic forecasts as and when required.

  • Ensure CRM data is kept up to date with the latest information.

  • Identify emerging markets and market shifts while being aware of new products and competition status.

  • To be a problem solver, and not afraid to use new ideas / initiatives and challenge our processes.

  • Strong leader, team player and talented person to create relationship with their contacts.

  • Leads initiatives and takes responsibility to improve safety, reduce delivery cycle times, quote response times, process improvements, improve sales margin and improved bookings. This means frequent contact with others from around the business.

  • Achieve relevant performance targets and metrics for themselves, team and department.

  • Deputise for supervisor and other colleagues when required.

  • Continually update personal knowledge of relevant new technologies, legal, safety, contractual and export compliance regulations.

  • Ensure that the highest levels of quality assurance are maintained for all activities within scope of the role.

  • Provide an agreed number of weeks (maximum 6 weeks) out of office hour’s support to FSE’s.

  • Carry out any other reasonable request for a company or department level initiative or task as may be required from time to time.

What Do You Need To Bring?

Essential skills, knowledge & behaviours

  • Previous experience supplying similar rotating equipment products or services to the oil and gas, petrochemical and power generation industries.

  • Successful previous experience in Aftermarket sales and projects, consistently meeting or exceeding targets.

  • Experienced at working with an international customer base with good understanding of cultural differences.

  • Previous experience of successfully managing an international network of agents and/or distributors.

  • Proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close.

  • Ability to position and differentiate relevant products and services against other options a customer may consider.

  • Demonstrable experience of leading sales activities, developing customer-focused, differentiated and achievable solutions.

  • Good Project Management skillset with demonstrable experience.

  • Very customer focused.

  • An eye for detail and working diligently to ensure activities are fully completed to conclusion.

  • Excellent listening, negotiation, communication and presentation skills.

Desirable skills, knowledge & behaviours

  • Relevant qualifications in Mechanical Engineering, degree level preferred but not essential.

  • Desirable if experienced at preparing complex tenders both in terms of technical and commercial proposals with minimal support.

  • Desirable to have previous experience coaching and developing others on sales methods and techniques.
