Job Title: Marketing Communications Consultant – Digital Marketing

Salary/Grade: £45k - £68k

Location : Peterborough

About IPSD:

Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L Cat® and Perkins engines that power over 5,000 applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Job Purpose:

This position will act as a key digital marketing enabler within the Global Marketing Communications team for IPSD. The Marketing Communications Consultant – Digital Marketing will help support IPSD’s marketing campaigns and activities for the Perkins and Cat brands, their marketing initiatives, engine ranges, parts portfolio, and product support initiatives.

Job Opportunity:

An exciting opportunity to support the digital marketing of two global brands, Perkins and Cat, playing a key role in the development of new and innovative methods of interacting with key customer segments around the world.

The successful candidate will work as a Digital Marketing ‘expert’ within the Global Marketing Communications team, working closely with Sales and Marketing teams within the division and the Marketing and Digital teams across the Caterpillar Enterprise.

They will have a key role in the development of the division’s use of digital platforms and tools to drive sales growth with the engines and parts arenas, as well as contributing to the success of the leads and opportunities pipeline for the business online.

This person will play a key role in the development of new and innovative methods of communicating with key customer groups around the world, delivering global marketing campaigns, multi-media project, parts marketing initiatives and management of third-party agencies. You will closely with cross functional team members as well as wider Marketing and Services teams across the Caterpillar enterprise. You will work alongside the Regional Marketing team to provide support for digital campaigns and creative agencies to promote the Perkins and Cat brands, parts marketing initiatives and engine ranges.

What You Will Do:

  • You will support the development of the Perkins.com and Cat.com Industrial websites (and customer internal sites), updating, creating and executing an improvement content plan, working with the Marketing teams, external agencies and across the business.

  • Work with Web Analytics team to measure and report on digital marketing performance and use this data to drive continuous improvement.

  • Support the creation and execution of email marketing campaigns using Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Poppulo.

  • Build strong relationships with Digital Services across the Caterpillar Enterprise, ensuring that our divisions requirements are built into corporate initiatives and to leverage corporate digital tools and initiatives that can be implemented within the Division.

  • Advocate digital marketing best practices.

  • Ensure that corporate, distributor and dealer marketing material is in line with corporate brand standards.

  • Develop relationships with digital agencies / vendors and be involved in vendor selection process.

  • Play a key role in supporting the Global Communications team with the delivery of major new marketing initiatives.

  • Communicate strategic and tactical initiatives to project stakeholders including senior management where appropriate.

  • Assess new digital platform technologies, tools and techniques and regularly review in line with strategy for best fit for the business, including social channels.

  • Build relationships with other Marketing Teams across the Caterpillar Enterprise, sharing best practice and utilizing corporate solutions for the benefit of the Perkins and Cat Industrial engine brands.

Top candidates may also have:

  • Extensive experience within digital marketing, email marketing (preferably Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Poppulo) and content management systems (preferably Adobe Experience Manager).

  • Previous experience using graphics packages such as Adobe Photoshop for websites.

  • Metrics-driven marketing mind with eye for creativity and experience within Google Analytics and other reporting tools.

  • Ability to work with global team from many different backgrounds and cultures, internally and externally, with the appropriate influence and ability to resolve differences.

  • Holds a Marketing Degree or be qualified through demonstrated progressive work experience.
