As a Electrical Engineer, you will develop and issue Electrical designs for procurement, installation and commissioning of projects meeting Howden Turbo UK (HTO UK) Quality Standards, Customer specifications and International Regulatory Requirements.

What Needs To Be Done?

  • Design and develop product portfolio for steam turbine generator packages within the oil and gas and power sectors.

  • Create and develop designs for the electrical and instrumentation parts of the steam turbine generator packages to ensure functionality according to quality, safety, reliability, maintainability and cost targets.

  • Design and develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, block diagrams, logic diagrams and electrical drawings utilizing SolidWorks Electrical CAD package.

  • Design and develop 3D models for cable routing, cable tray routing, instrumentation layouts and other layout drawings required as part of the electrical and instrumentation parts of the steam turbine generator packages.

  • Technically support project management, mechanical design, design drafting for any project requirements which could include site visits and technical meetings as required.

  • Provide technical assistance to sales, applications, spares and service, aftermarket and new product development initiatives including site visits and technical meetings as required

  • Keeping up to date on new technology and developments in electrical and instrumentation systems to develop systems and offerings for the steam turbine generator packages to reduce costs and lead times and improve the systems supplied.

  • Deliver customer solutions in line with project specifications and requirements and the latest industry standards and regulations.

  • Support Operations to resolve assembly or functionality issues and support FAT of the Steam Turbines

  • Review and approve drawings, layouts, specifications, and sub supplier data to ensure they meet the requirements of the project

  • Design and select materials and components for the electrical and instrumentation parts of the steam turbine generator package, which shall include creating ordering data sheets and specifying components to meet the project specifications and requirements.

  • Support EC&I engineers to develop project documentation such as cause and effect, functional design specifications, cable and termination schedules, logic diagrams and others.

  • Support test and inspection procedures of all electrical equipment as required

  • Support FAT of HTO control systems at the supplier premises if required

  • Provide design activity status reports and estimated design timings for project schedules as requested

  • Schedule own work to meet manufacturing and delivery targets as detailed in the project plan

What Do You Need To Bring?

Essential skills, knowledge & behaviours

  • Degree or HNC/HND in electrical/electronic engineering

  • Electrical and instrument design, component selection and implementation

  • Solidworks electrical CAD package experience and knowledge (other packages may be considered)

  • PC literacy – basic working knowledge and application of Microsoft product

  • Communication – 1:1, 1: group

  • Developing documentation consisting of (but not limited to) the following: P&ID’s, Instrumentschedules, ISAdatasheets, Cableschedules, Terminationschedules, Logicdiagrams, Cableblockdiagrams, Electricalwiringdiagrams, Electricalandinstrumentationschematics and 3Dlayoutdrawings.

  • Electrical engineering design experience

  • Electrical 2D drafting utilising Solidworks Electrical (other packages may be considered)

  • Instrument design and selection experience

  • Electrical component design and selection experience

  • Able to communicate and engage with all levels of the organisation

Desirable skills, knowledge & behaviours

  • BS 7671 18TH Edition – Requirements for Electrical Installations

  • IEC 60079-14 – Electrical Installations Design, Selection and Erection

  • AutoCAD Electrical or another 2D CAD package

  • Safety Certified Engineer (TUV certified)

  • Aveva/INtools Instrumentation

  • Machine condition monitoring knowledge and experience

  • Hazardous area electrical design and component selection knowledge

  • Similar products and markets

  • Hazardous area electrical design and component selection knowledge

  • Safety systems

  • HAZOP and SIL review meetings

  • Experience in installation, commissioning and trouble shooting

  • Electrical 3D modelling for layout drawings
