DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Semi Skilled Laborer, you will maintain the buildings and grounds at the Southeastern Veterans' Center. Some specific d uties include grass cutting, snow and ice removal, landscaping, equipment operation and maintenance, as well as minor masonry, carpentry, painting, and plumbing work. You will also assist maintenance staff, move furniture, and load and unload trucks with various materials. This is an excellent opportunity to put your trades and maintenance skills to use, while supporting a facility that cares for some of our state's most vulnerable residents.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment (7.5-hour day/37.5-hour week)
Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Salary: The starting salary for this position for new Commonwealth employees is fixed at the minimum salary listed above and is not negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction;or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Condition of Employment:
You must possess a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.
Additional Requirement:
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
This position is located at Southeastern Veterans' Center, Spring City, Pennsylvania. Willingness and ability to work in Spring City, Pennsylvania.
Experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction
Experience in maintenance and electrical work
Experience with hand tools and power tools
Willingness to work outside, potentially in adverse weather conditions
Legal Requirements:
A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
