THE POSITION
We are looking for talented and qualified candidates to become part of our team at Codorus State Park. In the role of a lifeguard, you will be essential in safeguarding the health and safety of our park visitors. Your duties will include overseeing the swimming zones, upholding park policies, and addressing any emergencies that arise. This position offers a thrilling chance for individuals with outstanding water rescue abilities and a love for outdoor activities to positively impact the community.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Working as a Lifeguard at Codorus State Park involves patrolling, observing, and monitoring visitor activity at swimming areas. You will need to recognize when swimmers are in distress and be able to rescue them using accepted lifesaving techniques. Additionally, you will be expected to utilize first aid, artificial respiration, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Inspection of buoys, ropes, first aid equipment and supplies, and other safety equipment will also be one of your duties.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Seasonal full-time employment without benefits. The season runs from May through September.
Full-time and part-time schedules available
Work hours are 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with a 30-minute lunch
Work schedule will vary, 37.5 hour work week, weekends, holidays and all shifts will be required.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Special Requirements:
All employees must obtain a valid Lifeguard Certification issued by the American Red Cross, YMCA, United States Lifesaving Association, or other authority recognized by the Pennsylvania Department of Health within 14 days of employment.
All employees must obtain valid certifications in standard first aid and adult, child, and infant CPR within 14 days of employment.
Other Requirements:
PA residency requirement (https://www.employment.pa.gov/Additional%20Info/Pages/default.aspx) is currentlywaivedfor this title.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
You must pass a background investigation.
This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
