THE POSITION

Are you looking for an exciting career opportunity in project and labor management? As a leading organization in the Department of Human Services, Torrance State Hospital is seeking a positive, committed, and motivated Facility Operations Manager 1 to support the maintenance and operation of the Facility Maintenance Department. In this role, you will oversee and supervise the carpenter shop, electrical shop, plumbing shop, grounds crew shop, lead painter, and welder. If you enjoy leading a productive team to accomplish goals and tasks, this is the job for you!

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Facility Operations Manager 1, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and functionality of our buildings and structures by directing and supervising tradesman and maintenance staff in various repairs, alterations, additions, and construction. Other responsibilities include overseeing the transportation shop; evaluating the inventory of supplies for projects and ordering supplies, tools, and equipment; and s upervising the care and inventory of tools and equipment. You will also assist with the interview process for new hires. In addition, you will implement a safety program, as well as enforce safety rules and regulations.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment

  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

  • Overtime and travel as needed

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirement:

  • Three years of skilled trades work experience in commercial, industrial, or multi-unit residential facilities which includes one year of supervisory experience overseeing skilled trades work in commercial or industrial buildings, or utility plant operations.

    Special Requirement:

  • This position requires possession of a valid motor vehicle license.
