THE POSITION

Are you interested in joining a team dedicated to the conservation and protection of wildlife and their habitats for generations to come? The Pennsylvania Game Commission is seeking a Wildlife Technician for a three-year limited-term position to assist in the field with Bureau of Wildlife Management initiatives. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will offer field assistance for the execution of Bureau of Wildlife Management (BWM) and regional initiatives. You will collaborate as a member of a comprehensive wildlife management team, sharing BWM program responsibilities with the Wildlife Management Supervisor, wildlife biologist 1, wildlife technician, bio-aide, and interns to fulfill the Agency's objectives. Responsibilities will encompass, but are not limited to, the capture, handling, marking, and monitoring of birds and mammals, as well as wildlife population assessments, responses to habitat management, and health monitoring of wildlife. It is crucial to ensure that projects and surveys adhere to established protocols and meet designated timelines.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • 3 year limited term, full-time employment, 40 hours per week.

  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Graduation from an Associate Degree Program in Wildlife Management;or

  • Any combination of experience or training which provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.

  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

    Special Requirements:

  • You must possess a valid Pennsylvania motor vehicle operator's license.
