With a focus on renewable energy and emergency backup power, Finger Lakes Power Systems is hiring ambitious, experienced applicants seeking a successful long-term career in the trades to fill a need on our installation and service teams. Qualified applicants who have strengths in some skills but may need training in others are strongly encouraged to apply. Day-to-day work may include installation of solar panels, automatic standby generators, utility primary and secondary work, some interior electrical work (i.e. panel upgrades, metering replacements, energy monitoring, electrical fixtures, etc.), and other miscellaneous work or duties as needed. Among other perks, we provide a company vehicle (shop to job site), specialized tools and equipment, and a standard 4-day 10-hour work week, Monday - Thursday. Starting compensation based on experience, with ample opportunity for near-immediate wage increases and potential for additional training and professional growth. Responsibilities may include some of the following: Install, maintain, and repair electrical, photovoltaic, and/or backup power systems and equipment in residential, commercial, and industrial settings Read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints to determine the layout of electrical wiring Test electrical systems and components to ensure they are functioning correctly and safely Troubleshoot electrical issues and make necessary repairs or replacements Install and connect electrical wiring, outlets, switches, and fixtures Follow all safety protocols and adhere to electrical codes and regulations Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as an electrician; experience with installation of primary service especially desirable Experience in renewable energy systems, components and installations a plus Experience in emergency standby power systems, equipment and installations a plus Proficient in installing, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems Knowledge of high voltage systems and safety procedures and protocols Familiarity with frame carpentry techniques for running electrical wiring Familiarity with and ability to interpret electrical schematics and blueprints Ability to safely operate heavy equipment (mini-excavator, bobcat, etc.) a plus Requirements: Must have basic hand tools Reliable transportation and valid driver license (CDL not required but beneficial) Ability to repeatedly lift and carry 50 lbs.
