$15.45 to $16.45/hr. and a Free YMCA Membership

Monday-Friday

GENERAL FUNCTION:

Under the supervision of the Center Director, the Food Service Worker will work with the food service provider to ensure meals are served to the center in a timely, appealing, healthy, and appropriate manner in accordance OCFS regulations and DOH standards. Ensures the kitchen and the equipment are clean, well-supplied, and runs efficiently. The Food Service Worker also must pick up food from provider daily. The position is responsible for ensuring that the mission, purpose, image and core values at the YMCA of Greater Rochester are conveyed.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plan and coordinate all food service activities including picking the food up daily from the food service provider.

• Ensure all food is prepared and distributed on time in accordance with OCFS regulations, Department of Health and YMCA guidelines.

• Ensure proper retention and management of all leftover food.

• Complete daily temperature checks of cooler and freezer daily and temperature charts are completed timely and accurately.

• Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen.

• Order and check-in all food and food related supplies; notify the Center Director of any shortages, spoilages, or damages to deliveries.

• Complete any and all required paperwork and submit to the office in an orderly and timely manner.

• Assist with classroom coverage as needed for teacher bathroom breaks, etc.

• All other duties as assigned including classroom coverage in extenuating circumstances.

• Maintain all required certifications.

• Attend all required meetings and training.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Be at least 21 years of age and possess a high school diploma or GED.

• Must have clean NYS drivers license.

• Must have relevant and appropriate background in working in a kitchen. Experience must include product preparation and storage of raw and prepared food.

• Have strong interpersonal, communication, and organization skills.

• Current certification in CPR/AID and First Aid or be able to obtain these certifications within 60 days of hire.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to stand for the duration of the shift

• Must be able to bend and stoop occasionally

• Must be able to lift 45 pounds occasionally

• Ability to supervise children by sight at all times.

• Ability to move quickly to react to safety issues in the setting (i.e. aggressive behavior).

• Ability to move around the gym/field to assist children and supervise children with daily activities, social interaction, physical and emotional needs.

• Ability to work in all elements (i.e. outside in all weather)

Salary Description

$15.45 to $16.45 per hour
