Matheny is a special hospital for children and adults with medically complex developmental disabilities. Matheny Medical and Educational Center has a career opportunity available for aFull Time Medical Billing Technician.This position is Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm.

Duties of this position include:

  • Performs detailed patient billing:

  • Billing inclusive of Medicare, Medicaid billing for inpatient claims, as well as multiple payers for Durable Medical Equipment.

  • Maintains detailed records for billed claims

  • Reports and reconciles cash received to billing records

  • Performs collection follow up on unpaid balances and troubleshoots any denials received from claims submission

  • Researches and responds to inquires regarding billing issues or problems

  • Maintains filing system for billing claims

  • Develops external relationships with third party agencies that can assist in the billing process if needed.

  • Assists with audits and related documentation requests

  • Develops and fosters a collaborative working relationship with other departments and team members throughout the organization

  • Participates in Finance department staff meetings and professional growth training opportunities

  • Performs other related job duties and special projects, as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Experience with Medicare, Medicaid and Durable Medical Equipment billing

  • Must act responsibly and ethically when working with sensitive and confidential financial information.

  • Ability to enter data effectively and accurately.

  • Must possess mathematical skills, an attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • The ability to comply with local, state and federal financial regulations as well as regulations of the Organization.

  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Word

  • Technology savvy with a willingness to learn and proficient in new software programs.

  • Must possess strong verbal communication and organizational skills and reporting skills.
