This position is for Marine Joiner with a company in Pascagoula, MS.

Summary: Performs all tasks required to install bulkheads, ceilings, doors, windows, stairs, and furniture in various types of vessels or other marine structures. The unfinished structure of a vessel is finished into living, work, and leisure/recreation spaces.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned as required. Installs or assists in the installation and/ or construction of bulkheads, ceiling panels, doors and trim, windows, rails, hardware, and any other related construction activities assigned by Supervisor. Installs or assists in the installation of insulation of compartment floors, ceilings, or interior/exterior walls. Uses tools and equipment in an efficient and safe manner for daily activities. Installs or assists in caulking to windows, doors, wash basins and toilet and shower modules. Installs or assists in the installation of adhesives, tiles, and carpeting of compartments. Reviews compartment blueprints and sketch system to assist in construction. May install or assist in electrical work such as: sizing, strapping, and pulling of cable, installation and hook-ups on all lights, switches, equipment, and power panels as required.

Education and Experience: Minimum of two years experience as a Marine Joiner from a Shipyard. High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent and experience using basic hand tools. Must be familiar with blueprints and drawings. Must have basic carpentry and sheet metal skills. Must be able to work on beams, scaffolding, ladders, and confined spaces. 10 PNL drug screen, extensive background check, physical, and respirator fit test will be required.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills are required. Familiarity with blueprints and drawings. Ability to read and interpret documents and instructions. Ability to take directions and follow instructions Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly. Ability to work on beams, scaffolding, ladders, and confined spaces. Ability to work a variety of assignments and locations on a daily or hourly basis. Strong ability to be reliable, dependable, and work as a team. Knowledge of welding and electrical is helpful. Basic carpentry and sheet metal skills.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is sometimes exposed to moving mechanical parts, frequently exposed to high, precarious places and outside weather conditions, occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Shifts/ Hours: Monday -- Friday, 5:30 am -- 2:00 pm, with some overtime. Saturday TBD.

Pay: $23 -1st class joiner. $19- 2nd class joiner. Up to $1437 w 55 hours.

Requirements: Must have experience as a marine joiner in a shipyard. Must be familiar with blueprints and drawings. Must have basic carpentry and sheet metal skills. Must be able to work on beams, scaffolding, ladders, and confined spaces. 10 PNL drug screen, extensive background check, physical, and respirator fit test will be required.

Shifts: Monday-Friday 5:30AM- 2PM with some OT, Saturdays are TBD.
