Amergis Behavioral Classroom Aide-ASAP Start/weekly pay! in Pasadena, California

The Behavioral Classroom Aide works with students requiring instructional and/or behavioral assistance under the supervision of the special education department and/or supervising designee. This role may also provide support services to assist students with personal, physical mobility, and therapeutic care needs, as established by a rehabilitation health practitioner, social worker, or other health care professional.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • IEP Implementation : Follow through with IEP objectives, including math, reading, speech, independent skills, and managing behavioral deficits and excesses, either one-on-one or as a general classroom aide.

  • Learning Facilitation: Facilitate teacher-directed learning activities, such as lesson plans, worksheets, reinforcement systems, small groups, social games, and work assistance. Assist students when included in general education classes.

  • Student Supervision: Accompany students during recess, lunch periods, and community experiences. Assist with activities of prescribed programs, including those written by related service personnel such as PT, OT, and SLP.

  • Behavior Management: Implement behavior management techniques at the direction of the teacher and/or other school professionals (e.g., BCBA, Psychologist). Help students develop independent skills through self-care activities such as toileting, clothing routines, feeding, and personal hygiene.

  • Administrative Support: Support the teacher with clerical duties, including making stimuli, making copies, maintaining a clean and organized classroom, preparing materials, and assignment scoring. Appropriately report changes in client status or as directed by IHP/IEP.

  • Confidentiality: Strictly adhere to confidentiality requirements regarding all matters pertaining to students, parents, parent communications, and/or classroom activities. (Note: Unless instructed otherwise by the supervising teacher, all parent communication is the responsibility of certified personnel.)

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Professional Standards: Comply with all relevant professional standards of practice. Participate in and complete Amergis' Competency program when applicable.

  • Certifications: Current CPR certification if applicable. TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable. Current health certificate (per contract or state regulation).

  • Training and Compliance: Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements. Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to the job site. Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.

  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills to effectively elicit and provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including supervisors, co-workers, and clients); proficiency in the English language is required.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
