Water/Wastewater Treatment Operator
This position requires the operation and maintenance of a Class 5A Membrane Bioreactor Wastewater Treatment Plant. This position is located at the United States Naval Academy. Our mission is to provide highly responsive and quality facility support to the midshipmen, staff, faculty and sailors located in Annapolis at USNA and Naval Support Activity Annapolis.
Essential Duties
Operates, monitors and adjusts the treatment process.
Perform monthly generated PMs on equipment.
Daily maintenance of treatment facility.
Collect process samples and perform analysis.
Perform general housekeeping of buildings.
Handling and receiving of chemicals.
Filling out daily and monthly reports.
Assist Trades in equipment repairs.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements
Must have a minimum of three years’ experience in a similar role.
Experience in similar plants and systems.
Must possess a Maryland Class 5A Wastewater Certification, from Maryland Board of Waterworks & Waste Systems Operators (MDE).
Must have a valid, current driver’s license.
Knowledge of requirements of State issued NPDES permit.
Knowledge of laboratory techniques.
Knowledge of the biological nutrient removal process.
Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair process issues or equipment.
Required to work overtime, holidays, and weekends.
Work Environment
Regular exposure to extreme temperatures, wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes and airborne particles, loud noises, chemicals, etc.
Physical demands include frequent standing, walking, reaching, and use of hands; regularly lifting and/or moving up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs.
Requires use of hand and power tools applicable to trade.
Ability to maneuver a job site, including small spaces in around equipment.
