Kringstad Ironworks Inc.is looking to hire 6 workers in the position of Welder.This is a temporary, full- time one time need position and we are looking to fill 6 job openings at 406 Tower Street, Park River ND 58270 with an anticipated start date of April 1, 2025 and ending December 31, 2027.
Duties: Weld components in flat, vertical or overhead positions.Ignite torches or start power supplies and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals being welded, completing electrical circuitsClamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind and/or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for weldingDetect faulty operation of equipment and /or defective material and notify supervisorsOperate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such as gas metal arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, shielded metal arc.Monitor the fitting, burning and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion or material.Examine work pieces for defects, and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications. Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers and rulers.Chip or grind off excess weld, slag or spatter, using hand scrapers or power chippers, portable grinders, or arc cutting equipment.Analyze engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, sketches, work orders,and material safety data sheets to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations.Connect and turn regulator valves to activate and adjust gas flow and pressure so that desired flames are obtained.Determine required equipment and welding methods, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry and welding techniques.Prepare all material surfaces to be welded, ensuring that there is no loose or thick scale slag, rust, moisture, grease, or other foreign matter.Select and install torches, torch tips, filler rods, and flux according to welding chart specifications, or types and thicknesses of metalsRemove rough spots from work pieces, using portable grinders, hand files, or scrapers.Position and secure work pieces, using hoists, cranes, wire and banding machines or hand tools.Clean or degrease parts, using wire brushes, portable grinders, or chemical baths. Repair products by dismantling straightening reshaping, and reassembling parts, using cutting torches, straightening presses, and hand tools.Fill holes and increase the size of metal parts.Dismantle metal assemblies or cut scrap metal, using thermal-cutting equipment such a flame-cutting torches or plasma-arc equipmentCheck grooves, angles, or gap allowances, using micrometers, calipers, and precision measuring instruments.Signal crane operators to move large work pieces.Guide and direct flames or electrodes on or across work pieces to straighten, bend, melt or build up metal.Cut metal plates and structural shapes to dimensions, and contour and bevel as specified by blueprints, layouts, work orders, and templates, using powered saws, hand shears, or chipping knives Preheat work pieces prior to welding or bending using torches or heating furnacesUse fire suppression methods in industrial emergenciesSet up and use ladders and scaffolding as necessary to complete workJoin parts such as beams and steel reinforcing rods in buildings, bridges, and highways, bolting and riveting as necessaryHammer out bulges or bends in metal work pieces
No degree. 6 months experience required. On-the-job training will be provided to the worker.
Terms and Conditions of Employment: $28.35 per hour, at least 40 hours a week.Overtime is available as needed. Overtime rate of pay is at 42.53 per hour. Kringstad Ironworks Inc. will use a single workweek as its standard for computing wages d e. The worker will be paid at least every two weeks. Employer will make all payroll deductions required by law and will not make any deductions which are not required by law. Employer will provide to the worker, without charge or deposit charge, all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the duties assigned. Employer guarantees to offer work for a total number of hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employment period.
Transportation: For H-2B workers, Kringstad Ironworks Inc.will provide or pay for the workers cost of return transportation and daily subsistence from the place of employment to the place from which the worker, disregarding intervening employment, departed to work for the employer, if the worker completes the certified period of employment or is dismissed from employment for any reason by the employer before the end of the period consistent with 655.20(j)(l}(ii). The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved. The amount for daily subsistence will be at least $15.88 per day during travel to a maximum of $59.00 per day with receipts. H-2B workers will be reimbursed in the first workweek for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the government, incurred by the H-2B worker (excluding passport expenses or other charges primarily for the benefit of the worker).
The employer will provide to the worker, without charge or deposit charge, all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the dues assigned.
