Job Duties
Meets with all new nursing service personnel to disseminate their duties and responsibilities.Acts as a resource to nursing staff and implements educational programs.Assures high-quality care through peer review, interdisciplinary program evaluation, risk management and nursing quality improvement, and discharge planning.Acts as the Director of Nursing in his/her absence.Evaluates educational activities and maintains current documentation of staff participation on an annual basis.Oversees physicians and care planning process. Assures that all physicians’ orders are carried out.Makes rounds on all units daily to evaluate resident care and environmental compliance with state regulations.Coordinates nursing service with other departments.Maintains accurate reporting and recording according to policies and procedures set forth, and evaluates and makes recommendations for improvements for the welfare of the residents.Sees that supplies are available in proper quantities, and that personnel using such supplies and equipment know where such are to be found and know the proper care of equipment.Receives thorough reports from the Nurse Managers or charge nurses and works closely with them to insure maximum total care.Responsible for insuring accurate recording of medications and narcotics according to facility procedure.Participates in nursing care as needed and is responsible for the direct handling of any emergency situation which may arise.Reviews lab work for proper documentation and monthly review and audit of charts, pharmacy profile.Reviews daily incident reports and conducts follow-up.Checks charts monthly for summaries, vital signs and weights; checks for accuracy and signature.Supervises all nursing activities and promotes improvement in nursing care.Assists with scheduling, staffing, recruitment and retention.Oversees IDCP meeting and assures timely and accurate electronic transmission of all MDS, Re-entry and Discharge forms.Oversees Fall Reduction Program, and Wound Care Program Oversees specialized ventilator/trach unit and the day to day activities and functions of the unit.Oversees and Assist with Program Improvement Program of the Division.Oversees Case Mix Index Program and MDS ProcessOversees IDC wound rounds weekly.Oversees restraint and psychotropic reduction.Reports all findings to D.O.N. or designee and/or the Administrator.Maintains/expands professional expertise through attendance at professional conferences/seminars and through review of professional literature.Customer Service: respect, flexibility, knowledge, confidence, professionalism, pleasant attitude, patience and helpfulness. All responses should be timely, professional, caring, and respectful in accordance with Customer Service Performance expectationsMaintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. Assesses gaps in policies and procedures, and create necessary policies and procedures to fulfill these gaps.Understands and adheres to the Medical Center’s Code of Conduct.Familiar with the Medical Center’s Mission, Vision, and Values Statements.

EducationBachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
Position QualificationsNJ RN license required.AHA BLS certification required.IV Certification preferred.Minimum 3 to 5 years of management experience preferred.Good organizational skills.Good oral and written communication skills.Good interpersonal skills.Speaks, reads and writes English to the extent required by the position.
