Job Title: Paraprofessional - Preschool Job Family: Classified Department: Grand Valley Center for Family Learning FLSA Status: Non-exempt Pay Range: Paraprofessional Salary Schedule: $15.00 - $26.25 per hour Reports to: Building Principal Job ID#: 1279

SUMMARY: Assist both typically developing students and those with identified special needs in their educational, physical, emotional, and language growth and development in the classroom, under the direction of a lead teacher. Assist with documentation of observations, meeting student goals and maintaining a safe and clean environment in accordance with Colorado Child Care Rules and Regulations.

INTELLECTUAL DEVELOPMENT: High school diploma or equivalent Basic Skills Competence (Minimum 2 years of college ,e.g. associates degree, or 48 semester hrs of college coursework) OR Pass paraprofessional test (CDE and NCLB qualifications) prior to being hired. Oral and written communication skills. English language skills; multilingual skills preferred. CPR and First Aid certifications encouraged. Knowledge of developmental, emotional, and behavioral disabilities Participate in professional growth opportunities.

PRODUCTIVE CITIZEN: Assist with expanding students' communication and motor skills Facilitate students' active participation in large and small group time and with peers Communicate with teacher about children's growth and progress Attend appropriate building meetings, in-services, school functions, and/or training. Ability to assist in supporting the behavior intervention plans, classroom management systems, and reinforcement systems Ability to use effective interventions for at risk learners Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job. Ability and willingness to adhere to attendance requirements, including regular and punctual employee presence. Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies, Superintendent policies and building and department procedures. Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively in a team setting

AGENCY: Provide classroom and one-on-one support to student(s) as necessary Assist teacher in modifying instructional materials, assignments, and/or equipment to accommodate student needs in classroom, other learning environments Assist teacher in observing, monitoring, and recording student behavior, academic progress, and medical needs Perform clerical duties and assist in preparing/organizing classroom materials Interpersonal relations skills. Critical thinking and problem solving skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks/priorities with frequent interruptions.

PERSONAL WELLNESS: Assist with preparing and maintaining classroom, with a particular emphasis on safety and cleanliness Assist students with feeding, toileting, hygiene, and cleanliness Assist and support in carrying out social/emotional support programs Supervise and monitor student behavior during daily activities (cafeteria, playground, hallway, to/from buses, cross walks, field trips, etc.) Non-violent and physical intervention techniques Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.
