Commander, Navy Installations Operations Assistant - Main Deck in Panama City, Florida
Summary This position is located in the Fleet Readiness Department, Naval Support Activity, Panama City, Florida. The purpose of this position is to assist the respective Manager in the operation of the activity. Responsibilities Responsible for assisting in the assurance of an efficient operation of the activity during his/her respective shift. Must promote good customer relationship and enhance the image of the respective activity. The incumbent reviews the schedule of functions that are to take place during the assigned shift in order to ascertain what special preparations are required. Ensures that necessary space, supplies, and equipment are available and that room arrangements/set-ups are completed. Provides instruction and guidance to all activity staff members on functions taking place during their shifts. Works with assigned staff and others to ensure planned events take place as scheduled. Responsible for monitoring the performance of personnel assigned to the activity during the manager's absence. Ensures that all personnel are fully utilized, recommending additional personnel or releasing unnecessary personnel as the situation warrants. Responsible for assisting the respective Manager with the performance of the following specific responsibilities and duties: Exercising management control over the operation of the activity. Ensuring custody of all records and property of the activity and all government property in the possession thereof. Verifying the receipt of stocks of merchandise and being responsible for the safekeeping thereof during his/her shift. Being responsible for the receipt, safekeeping, deposit, disbursement, and accountability of funds. Occasionally makes unscheduled cash counts. Maintains accurate accounts and records. Prepares a report of all significant occurrences during his/her shift. Responsible for assisting with the coordination, operation, and maintenance of the activity during assigned shift. Monitors operation of entire activity or assigned areas of responsibility, periodically checking to identify and resolve problems which may arise. Welcomes patrons and assists them in gaining anticipated services. Enforces activity rules. Assists in the conduct of a thorough and comprehensive safety program for all areas. Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Two years food service/inventory experience is required. Must develop a working knowledge of all departments of the respective activity. Must have the ability to properly supervise a group of civilian personnel. Must have the ability to render decisions, and the ability to influence others in obtaining cooperation and assistance. Must present a neat, well-groomed appearance at all times.
