Job Summary

The Sr. Citrix Engineer will serve as the strategic desktop virtualization subject matter expert providing advice and direction to users, management and IT project teams for defining and implementing complex projects. The primary responsibility of this position is supporting Cirix XenDesktop and Xenapp environments. Responsibilities include design, deployment, implementation, integration and administration of a desktop virtualization environment, including provisioning server. This position has the ability to demonstrate breadth of knowledge across multiple areas of information technology. The Sr. Citrix Engineer will serve as a key team member involve in IS strategic planning, enterprise-wide technology projects and issue resolutions.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for delivery of project based Citrix XenApp architecture including: installation, configuration, performance and stability to current and future customers.

  • Designs, implements, and administers virtual desktop environment and provides design and administration support to Windows Domains, including all the servers on that domain.

  • Manages, maintains, supports, troubleshoots, and optimizes any Citrix solution presently in place while making suggestion and adjustments to needs in the future.

  • Defines product/solution strategy and roadmap.

  • Works closely with service delivery and operations to ensure quality, standards and goals are met.

  • Runs beta and pilot programs with early-stage products, samples and demonstrations.

  • Maintains knowledge base for all implementations on best practice procedures for Citrix and related infrastructures.

  • Develops and maintains high standards in establishing procedures and policies to address routine jobs and certain resolution protocols.

  • Establishes infrastructure/application performance models and validation techniques.

  • Establishes best practices for monitoring and forecasting of system/application capacity.

  • Establishes and defines automated system installation/configuration procedures.

  • Follows standard change management process.

  • Manages/maintains relationships with partners/vendors, including vendor product license/support agreements.

  • Leads technical meetings and discussions. Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audience.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university

  • Experience: Eight (8) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience

  • License/Certification: CCA - Citrix Certified Administrator -OR- CCEA - Citrix Certified Enterprise Administrator

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of networking (related to computer Operating Systems), infrastructure and client side architectures, software lifecycle, and system design.

  • Knowledge and understanding of virtualization (vSphere, Hyper-V, Xen etc.).

  • Knowledge of DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, WINS, and LDAP.

  • Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot (eventlog parsing, regmon, filemon, fiddler, dump analysis).

  • Knowledge of local and wide area networking on multiple platforms.

  • Knowledge of business and clinical processes and understanding of organizational trends.

  • Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture methodology and best practices.

  • Knowledge of global IT outsourcing.

  • Knowledge of IT contracting, negotiating, organization development/change management, strategic planning, action planning for successful performance.

  • Knowledge and understanding of Citrix and Windows patch management, session printing and Citrix policies.

  • Systems engineering skills with an emphasis on enterprise scale architecture using Citrix virtualization product suite.

  • Knowledge and experience with Citrix server build standards, automation and provisioning.

  • Ability to communicate complex concepts in simple form to cross-functional departments or teams.

  • Ability to coordinate and manage facilities, equipment, supplies, and related resources as necessary for the project.
