Ford Motor Company Platform Software Systems Engineer in Palo Alto, California

We are looking for a leader in software engineering to manage the software engineering and testing of our product - a platform that provides services to its applications enabling them to rapidly stitch different customer experiences.

In this role, you will perform the following:

• Design different layers of the platform software stack preserving abstraction, improving modularity and cohesion.

• Drive industry standard practices in API development across different segments– spanning both embedded AUTOSAR-based offering with cloud microservices.

• Direct software design activities to to build the appropriate software system architecture.

• Direct testing the platform stack in layers, though Behavior-Driven-Development techniques.

• Oversee platform API SDK development and API documentation for developer community.

• Champion platform development health metrics, for continuous improvement.

• Lead standardization activities in the realm of software defined vehicle development.

Must have

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics or Robotics or related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering, as a direct contributor towards desing and implementation of a software intensive system, and its validation, either in embedded or cloud side.

  • 5+ years of experience in technical leadership role, leading/mentoring a software design team.

  • 5+ years of experience programming in C++ or Python, with Clean Code Practices.

  • 5+ years of experience with software and system level testing, both in virtual and hardware in-the loop environment.

  • Excellent problem-solving, collaboration and communication skills.

Good to have

  • Master of Science or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics or Robotics or related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in designing, prototyping a distributed real time system or a cloud system.

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in Android automotive ecosystem (HAL layer), and Apple CarPlay.

  • 3+ years of experience in device driver development in CAN, LIN, Ethernet, SENT, I2C, SPI.

  • Familiarity with Unit, integration, regression, user testing and load testing

  • Familiarity with Code quality tools (42Crunch, SonarQube, CheckMarx, etc...)

  • Familiarity with Git, Jenkins, Maven, Gradle and CI/CD tools.
